Hi style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
Last week I was off work - first time in 6 years. I got this awful pain in my back and shooting pains down my spine whenever I moved my neck. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif
Went to the doc, got time off work but no answer as to what was going on and the pain meds i'm on anyway weren't doing a lot.
Wanted to be a bit more pro-active so I took myself to a local sports injury clinic, that I've used for my kids in the past.
Met a lovely physiotherapist and explained that I didn't do sport but that had AI difficulties i.e. Lupus and Sjogren's. He actually KNEW what I was talking about and sounded so much more knowledgeable than my local GP.
He manipulated my back (which really hurt! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif ) and dxd a lupus flare because all my 'trigger points' were inflamed. After the manipulation my back felt stiff but less painfull than it had been. He also used electrotherapy.
He's advised me to see an acupuncturist, who works at the clinic. because he says 'my brain needs re-educated to cope with ongoing pain'
He'll see me again in 2 weeks. He's given me some simple exercises to do, which I'm finding quite hard! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/umm.gif He says I won't have to keep going to him but that it would probably be sensible to when I 'flare'.
I'm going to have acupuncture for the first time tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how it goes.
Take care - Scottie style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
