For those of you with pain out there I think this will be a huge help.

Before I ever had lupus I had fallen on my back at work. (Slipped on wet tiles) I was off work for 3 months and then the Workers Compensation Board put me in a Rehab program for 6 weeks to hopefully heal my injury. It consisted of 8-2pm 5/week. Two of those days we would go to a pool and do water excersises and the rest of the days was working with physiotherapists in a gym... also at any time if we needed we could get warm wraps or light massages we could (sounds good now but at the time I was in pain!!).

Anyways after my time there I was able to work but still my shoulder always felt heavy and like a piece of wood was stuck in it always pinching and scrapping every time I moved. I then went and started physio on my own at a clinic. The physiotherapist I got had also specialized in what is called "Bowen therapy". She thought it would be beneficial for my pain. We tried it...I went about 5 times and since then I have not ONCE felt pain in my shoulder ... amazing.

This past year when I was diagnosed with lupus I remembered that the bowen therapy was good for arthritis/joint pain/pain management ...and the list goes on. Anyways, I tried it out and I have found that I do have that extra bit of energy and my hips and knees haven't been as sore.

It is definitely something to look into.

Anyways I'm sure your asking what it is exactly, it's very hard to explain so check out a website on it. Its practiced all over the world. If I were to explain it it sounds like nothing; you lie on a table and they preform small movements on certain points on your body....

Well I hope this helps some of you out there because I can't imagine the pain alot of you go through, I don't suffer chronically but even when it comes up it's so hard to deal with...I really hope this can make some improvement and give you more painfree moments (and hopefully days!!!) style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/foryou.gif

Here are a few websites to check out about it:

traceeo,

As I was reading thru the first link it sounded vaguely related to accupuncture/accupressure treatments and the 2nd link verified that much of the work is done along accupuncture meridians. Unfuortunately there are no practioners available anywhere near me. I did try accupuncture for 6 months but was never able to get long lasting releif from it. I am going to talk to my pain doc next week to see if accupuncture is covered by medicare as his accupunturist might use a different technique than the one I saw.

I am so glad that you have found something to relieve your pain.
