Hi Lone Wolf,

I don't usually pop in here but wanted to offer my support. I too have stretch marks and I found that Vitamin E moisturising cream does help as does time, they do fade. I am sure that at your age because you are still growing your skin will recover itself.

Try not to get too down, we are all here for you xxxxxxx

Thanks for your advice and support. I will try some Vitamin E cream and see if it helps any.
It's nice to know there's other people out there that can give each other advice and support.

Hi Emily - I'm Lisa, and I'm also from Alberta. I had quite bad stretch marks when I was 15 from prednisone - I'm 34 now. They've faded quite a bit over time - teenager's skin is pretty resilient!

Having said that.... taking good care of your skin helps too. I used a really intense moisturizing butter (25% shea butter) during my last round of prednisone. It was something one of my pregnant friends recommended - she would know I guess! I slathered it on after every shower, and it really helped with the "stretched" feeling.

Take care!

Lisa

Hey there

I'm on predisone two which I refer to a two faced med since it helps us live but causes all kinds of nasty side effects. There isn't a whole lot you can do i'm 22 and went from having a really nice figure to gaining close to 90 pounds, don't get yourself down, you are still very young I hear that with time the stretch marks fade. There are a number of creams you can try to see if that helps, but do try vitamin E also.

There is another optioin but this would be one that you would have to dicuss with your doctor especially if you have skin lupus, it's called tretinoin cream (commonly known by the trade name Retin-A) it is used for wrinkles and acne but it has been known to help with strech marks if using the 0.1%(not higher) but you need a doctor's perscription and even if you didn't, always check with your doc first. There is also laser surgery but most insurance companies wont cover that so best bet do a little reaserch and see also talk to the doc they also may have topical creams and great suggestions for you,

But you are still very young and usually young skin will return to it's origional state better than older people's will. Hang in there love it's a long road but we're here for you.

Hi Emily, I've got brutal stretch marks from prednisone, and all over my body in the weirdest places too!! I've used what the others have mentioned and they have faded a bit. Only on 5mg pred now, have been for about a year now, and they're getting better as time goes by. Be patient Good luck and take care style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif Twas Oh yah, I grew up in windy southern Alberta too!!!! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/shakehands.gif

Hi,

I was 13 when I started taking prednisone, I'm 19 now, and I've got the stretch marks to prove it. I remember they used to itch but that feeling went away. The stretch marks have faded a bit but I got used to them after a while and they stopped bugging me. Just stay strong and remember the prednisone is to make you feel better. Take care.

Hey Emily,
My names Katrina and I'm almost 17 I also have stretch marks from being on prednisone. I've been on it since i was 14 but i'm down to 10mgs every other day so thats good. When i was on high doses i used to use vitamin E cream i don't know if it did too much but it made me feel better at the time. My doctors told me we get them so bad when we're on it because the pred actually thins our skin so it stretches alot easier. I try not too worry about it too much..i just wear clothes that don't expose my sides and i guess i'll have to try and find a bathing suit that doesnt show them off..but try not too worry you could have alot worse things than stretch marks and if prednisone makes you feel better i guess its worth it.
Love Katrina
