My Dr. put me on Prednisone. He says it takes about 5 weeks for it to really kick in. Well, I have noticed fatique and muscle pain gone the first week.

My problem now is I cramp up a lot,,,, my fingers and my intestines. After urinating i had a hernia pop up from my abdomin as i was trying to stand up. It had me in the bathroom doubled over for 20mins. holding the knot in my stomach in before i was able to stand up. I get them at least twice a week. I told my doctor of this,, he wrote it down.... but didn't say what it was. I'm suspecting he doesn't know, but i'm sure he will find out. He has already sent me for blood test to see if he has to adjust my dosage. In the mean time i'm hoping someone here can enlighten me.

Hi, Sadieone! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
Did your doctor examine your abdominal wall and folds of the groin?

A hernia is a tear or rip in the muscles that support your organs in place. An incarcerated hernia is when something from inside (intestine, for instance) gets trapped through the opening and is on the wrong side of the muscles. A strangulated hernia is when the trapped organ or tissue becomes starved for oxygen and nutrients and this can lead to gangrene if the trapped and starved part cannot be put back in place.

What you describe does not sound like a simple hernia, or tear in the muscle, since you say you can hold onto a hard knot. It sounds like something that should be investigated by a doctor with an interest in your care. I can't tell from what you write if your doctor is that kind of care provider.

Let us know what you find out.
