Hello,

Well, I was feeling pretty good last night although I have been getting lightheaded and dizzy at times. When I was getting ready for bed last night, I just passed out. I have never fainted in my life. I came back fairly quickly and was just a little confused. I got on the bed and layed down for awhile.

I was just changed from 15mg of Prednisone to 60mg because of a bad flare. Could this be a side effect? I see my rhuemy today, so I'll be sure to tell him, but it scared me because nothing like that has ever happened before.

Fainting is very scarey. I am glad you are seeing your rhuemy today.
I have never been on pred so I cant help you there. I just wanted you to
know I am thinking about you.
Take care,

Hi All,

Thanks for the responses! Just got back from seeing my Rhuemy. It was supposed to be a visit with the nurse actually, but she wasn't there, so I did get to see him. I told him about my "episode" last night and he took my blood pressure. It was normal and usually is. We talked for a few minutes, but he was really busy and barely fit me in his schedule. He asked me not to drive if I felt anything like I did last night and then I also have to cut down on the prednisone slowly. He didn't say if it was related, but he did say I was on a high dosage and he wanted me to start cutting it down slowly.

He didn't seem too concerned as he wants to see me again at the end of the month. I start Imuran in 10 days and today I have to start lowering the prednisone.

So, that's that. Not a direct answer, but maybe this will help and I just hope it doesn't happen again!

Hi Dee
Glad you feeling bit better. I was trying to look up any connection between pred and fainting and I found out that pred can cause dizziness and light headedness. Id say the chances of a relationship between your increased pred and this episdoe is quite high. Its good that you are tapering off.
Also the sites I looked up said that if those symtoms continued you should see your doctor. Lets hope it was a one off?
Take care
Joan

Thanks Joan!

Thank you so much for checking that out for me. I appreciate it. I always forget to go to the web and check things out, I guess I rely on this site too much! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

It helps to have that information. I'm doing better today, not so dizzy, just a little lightheaded, but my rhuemy said I might feel that until I bring the pred down.

Thanks again Joan! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/foryou.gif
