Hello,

I have lupus anticoagulant, antiphopholipid syndrome and crohn's, have also been told I havce a lupus-like syndrome.

I have low progesterone and am not ovulating, and am due to start clomid in my next cycle.

I wondered if anyone else has had this kind of treatment and if it caused any problems? Im so afraid of something going wrong.

thank you

Thank you for your support!

When I was younger (Im 29) I was super-regular, then about five years ago when crohn's symptoms started I became irregular, then it calmed doen again until about a year ago,

My general health is not great, crohns is not under control and I have a lot of lupus symptoms, and Im hoping that if wellbeing improves, then hormones will settle down. Im terrifed of the fertility treatment, and Im already in quite serious trouble with work for all the time off sick!

I have talked to others with lupus and similar, and they have mentioned irregular periods, or symptoms which are similar to things like pcos or endometriosis, when in fact its all connected.

hi there Helena,

I am alison, im 24 and im from england. My second child was stillborn at 37 weeks last april and the post mortem revealed that she died from clots in the placenta caused by me having Antiphospholipid syndrome and Lupus. We never knew that i had this condition until this point and i have one healthy 3 yr old daughter.

After this event we started trying for a baby. tests revealed that i had stopped ovulating and i was given clomid. I took 50mg days 2-6 of my cycle. The side effects werent very nice but its not that bad. Just hormonal and had a few head aches. I am pleased to say that we conceived on our first cycle and i am now 7+4 weeks pregnant. I would definately use clomid again if i needed to. The only bit of advice i can give is to make sure you are properly monitored on it. There are many cases of people given a dose too high for them and it over stimulated their ovaries which is realy painfull.

We are on heperin injections now during pregnancy to prevent anymore clots.

Good luck with making your decision!

Hi Ali,

Thank you for your message, and congratulations on your pregnancy! Its good to hear a story of the treatment being succesful. I am worried about the clomid effects, but I will have follicle tracking for at least the first cycle, so should be ok. Im on aspirin every day, and when treatment is hopefully successful will have heparin.

I still want to know why I stopped ovulating, the fertility clinic at Guys Hospital said it could be PCOS and that might be confirmed when I have the follicle tracking. But no one really knows.

I hope that you are feeling well and that all is ok!

Helena

that sounds really good helena! I was due to start the follicle scans in my 2nd cycle but obviously didnt need it. I had stopped ovulating due to stress, trauma and greiving following the still birth, my body just went into meltdown. Fingers firmly crossed that you will only need clomid the once!

Hi Alison, I hope you don't mind me sending you this. I was reading through the message board and read about the loss of your baby at 37 weeks. I needed to say how desperately sorry I was to read this. I lost my son when he was 15 weeks old and know what it is like to feel that despair. I too have been told since loosing Jamie that I have SLE and APS. We are trying for a baby and have been doing since February last year - 3 miscarriages later we are still here with no family and not sure what tomorrow will bring. It is a very frightening time.
Anyway that is not why I wanted to write. I just wanted to say I hope that things start going the way you want them to and the way you deserve.

My thoughts are with you, good luck.
Karen
