[font=Arial][size=2]Hello everyone,
Sorry for being so long with my writings, i tend to over explain everything. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hehe.gif

Been having the same symptom of a red rash, that seams to not be going away for longer then a few hours.
This rash does not itch, unless i, on acident touch it with another part of my skin.

This rash is now spread to different areas, then were it has been just four to eight hours prior.

It feels as if I have fire ant bites (by thousands) biting constantly all over my hands and top of my skin/just under the surface of my skin. I ignore the itching just long enough to consintrate on my studies. But then if my skin comes into contac with it, it starts itching again for hours and swelling into large welps.

I went to my gen Dr. he gave me five days of pred. for the inflamation and said that it should stop after five or ten days. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif , I just said ok, and had the pherscription filled, It has been almost a month and I still have the same problem. But now with numb hands and feet (feels like fire ants) style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/umm.gif

The thing, that is making me wounder if this is considered a flare style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif is that during the night and mid day, my throught has been feeling like someone is chooking me or placing a fanger right at the middle bottom of my throught voice box. The only way I can see or have been able to solve it, is to ignore the problem and sleep almost siting up in my bed through the night and breath through my nose. This in turn makes my nick like **** during the next day of course due to my neck and back are so stiff from sleepin during the night.

I have talked to my mother over the phone, and she has suggested for me to go to an allergiest, but I thank that I should go to my Gen Dr. like crazy (a lot, almost every other week or few days) until he refers me to one. Just to prove a point that the ideas of solutions he suggest I have already tried before going to hem. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hissy1.gif

But then, on the other hand, going to an allergiest would not hert eather.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks Sprinkly style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hehe.gif

Who is treating your Lupus ?
It sounds like you need to get a doctor who is looking at it and treating it on a regular basis ?
When did this first start ? Was anything new being taken in conjunction with it ?
If it is an alergy then ther is a cause and it will not go away until the cause goes away.
If it is a Lupus Flare then it needs the proper tests to identify that it is a flare and it needs treatment not for five days but for however long it takes to get it fixed.

As in any of our cases the primary person who is responcible for your medical care is you. You need to be insisting that it gets looked at and treated and if you are not getting results you need to find a doctor who will treat it and get it taken care of.

For your own sake get to a doctor of somekind and get this looked at. Anything that starts to effect your breathing has a potential to be very serious. Skin reactions that feel like Fire Ants are far from normal and probably wont go away on there own.

Hello,

Yes, I have been to my Rhmy. He says that I should go to my Gen Dr. before coming to him for the minor problems/conditions that I have. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif Even though my Gen Dr. after a while (few months) send me to go see my Rhmy. for any other link to my JRA or other nerve or muscular prolbems. Because he cannot find the cause (most of the time for my alments). This is why I wait for over two weeks, trying everything that I have in the past to figure out the cause and solution to my sudden alment symptoms of feeling sick.

Such as if I feel sick, as in head ach nasha, lighheaded, weak, numb in onw of my limbs, I set back down and wait for a minute befor standing back up. Then I try to find something to eat, like a small pack of crakers or piece of cheese. Because I now, that If I do not have a fever (most of the time i don't) then their is nothing that can be done. Feeling sick is just the same but all day and I have cold sweats but no fever longer then one or two hours, after I have tried being still and calm for a while to relax. When ever I go back to complete what I was doing before I started feeling so bad, I slowly start feeling sick again.

Of course, I mention this to my Rhmy, and he says that I should go to my Gen Dr. instead of him, due to he could better identify what the cause is/was. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif

I have already been to the Gen Dr. but no need to tell the Rhmy that, since I had already explained, the fact that I went to the Gen Dr. before seeing hem.

I have had the physical characteristics of JRA since age 8, I have had the Blood positive test for Lupus since age 9. I am now 24, sorry for the wrong forum head, I thought it said not diagnosed yet!!

But, the problem is, that my family and I tend to move around the world alot in search and acceptance of a promotion of employment. Therefore, I end up changing new Rhmy Dr. every year, and cycle the same issues of symptoms and test every time. Because they (Rhmy DR.'s ) seem to not be able to grasp the consept of a young persion haveing JRA without the blood positive factor. But still have the physical and other blood positive effects of it. One of my past Dr. diagnosed me with probable lupus but more physical characteristics of JRA or adult RA. Bone digeneration.

Overall, I am just about fed up with going to the DR. for anything other then a fever over 102 for longer then two nights. Most of the time I have fevers higher then 102 and they go away whenin a day or two, just when I consider going to the Dr. Even when I have ear infections, which is very often, I treat them better with the use of past meds and store meds before going to the DR. and they give me the same meds that I told them I had already tried. STill end up going right back after two to three weeks of it not clearing, and they finaly give me a perscripton for the pill version of the pink stuff (forgot the name, but now it when I see it). Because the ear enfection had spread to a sinous infection.

But now I have several different symptoms at the same time, and it is driving me crazy, I go to the Gen Dr. and he says that he believes it is not allergies, but he gives me allergie meds anyway. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif

Samething for my Iron count is so low, been low since early childhood, I eat mostly vigetables diet with beef for iron and take 325 mg pills 3xday to raise it. He says that it is probably my diet and I should eat more meat. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif Realy, even though I do all of the other stuff, and you say my iron is still low (2.4, normal is 4.2). style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif

Finaly i had one Dr. who actualy listened to me, and he had me take a gloucose test. which I tested positive for hypoglycimia (low, blood suger) after 1.5 -2 hours. So, this is were I figured the solution or cause for my continuos and suden white outs every day must be from low blood suger, so, I eat snacks every few hours or when I eyes are funny. (I do not eat suger, my father is Junior diabetic I, and so is his father and brother). I swim for fitness (compete, long distance).

The thing with the throught feeling, is that, I can also have the same feeling while I am eating or taking the 2 or 3rd sip of drink during eating. SO, I developed different ways to solve this problem. I eat slower, and wait to drink anything (ice tea, water, milk), until after I have finished eating. Sometimes I do not drink anything at all, just forget, or I am full.

Another current and probable concern developement I have recently been dealing with. Is the development of diareha, that has last longer then a few days (3-5), and goes away for a day, then comes back for another (3-5) days. I use to be totally constipated all the time, now its the opposit. Even though I am taking double the Iron dose.

I believe, most of my problems of finding a cause and solution for my continuous symptoms is to stay in one location long enough. But then, how will I find work that will pay for my med bills, so I must move even though I am close to finishing my college bach degree in liberal arts to have a living. So, again another round of 2 years going to gen Dr. and Rhmy, for the same tests and questions that I have had for over 12 years. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif Ending with eather a quik solution, an identification (hypoglicemai), or an I do not know for the Dr. Only takes 2 years of waiting and retesting to satisfy their minds as to the cause.

When All they could do, is listen to me and my explanations that I provide them each time i visit. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif

Any suggestions, please respond.
I am sorry if I sound mean, but I am realy sweat and queit, just voicsterus about my unsolved health issues.

Thanks Sprinkly style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hehe.gif

Are you saying that you are not on any medication at all ? What are your current autoimmune blood test results ?

It is all alarming I am sorry to say. How about an immunologist ? I would try that I think rather than an allergist. Can you see a lupus expert rheumy ?

I am not an anemia buff but it isn't a good idea to take double iron and if the anemia is from chronic disease I'm not sure iron supplements will help. Is your B12 OK ? If you are near vegan you risk B12 deficiency

With near constant diarrhea you risk being nutrient deficient but you must expend a lot of energy on the swimming. Maybe a GI doc or even dermatologist could make some headway

Sorry not much help

I hope you can get competent medical help soon

Hello,

My past (early child hood, age 8) blood test have test positive for automative immune disorder. And I have had the physcal features of JRA since this age or before. The RA blood test is negative, the autoamune test is postive or elivated. My x-rays show JRA and bone degeneration for all joints. I statred swimming competitivly since age 9 for strength and muscle training (movement). I swim competeitivly for the masters, but currently only during the summer due to collge is taking most of my time. So I have not been competting for almost 3 years. Practicing during the summer still but not for competition, just laps.

And my iron is still low. The message earler I stated that I take Iron 325 3xday. Which I do, my Gen. Dr. wants me to take more and eat more meat then the amount I already eat. I eat mostly vegitarian, due to my family is high cholesterial (father over 500, but is 6 Ft 3in tall and 165 lbs., mother is shorter but same weight as my self). I am 5 ft 10in tall and close to 145 lbs.). SO, since my fathers heart condition about 13 years ago, the whole family went Vegitarian for cholesterial. No bread, no fat grease, all meat is oven or grilled cooked during the summer or winter.

My cholesteral is boarderline high, and I do not eat grease, salt, or fat, or consume suger( not even Ice tea with suger).

My new Rhmy Dr. is still going through the 2 year cylce that I have been through with all my previous Rhmys. he still does not believe I have JRA due to the negative RA blood test. He finaly performed a bone scan and after 3 joints said that I had bone degeneration, (no realy, did I not say that every time I come into his office, my bones are geting smaller around the joints) And it is not from disuse, I can tell you that. I use my joints, expecialy my fangers the most for typing and writing school.

Any suggestions as to how I can better explain my condition to my new and future Rhmy's Dr. I would greatly appresheate it .

Thanks Sprienkly

Hi Sprinkly, sorry you're feeling crummy, hope you get the help you need soon!

Just a thought on the meds for sinus infections / ear infections: Storing and taking old antibiotics (I think that's what you mean by "past meds") can cause more harm than good. You should always finish any antibiotics that are prescribed to you - Often you'll start to feel better a few days after starting them, and it's tempting to stop because you're feeling better. Don't! You need to finish them to make sure you've killed all the "bad" bacteria - by stopping them early you may not get rid of the infection entirely, and it could come back. Also, if you stop them early, you risk developing strains of bugs that are resistant to antibiotics, and the next time you need them, they won't work. (this is a huge problem in medicine right now - there are bugs out there that don't respond to the strongest antibiotics available, which is kind of scary...)

Good news and bad (sad) news

I had an allergy test done yesturday, I am allergic to milk, wheat, and mites. Rash was amazingly gone when I arrived in the office room, but still itched like crazy, just nothing to show for it.

Also some other things test positive for above level 3 test of reaction, but I already new that I was allergic to them, included penicilium, trees, nuts (not peanuts), and cats (I am so sad) style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/aww.gif . I have just become attached to my young nephews cat's (both are short haird and declowed due to his allergies to them.

Mites I had a feeling i was allergic to, because half my family is also.

But milk and wheat, style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif my whole diet is gone, I have to find a new way of eating as a vegitarian without milk or bread (wheat). Rhy and ots tear up my stomach also, but milk just feel bad and sleepy all day (diareha).

Any suggestions as to what items or recipies I could eat without milk or wheat. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/goodvibes.gif

Thanks. for all the earler suggestions about meds,
The store meds I was talking about, were the meds I purchased from the pharmacy off the shelfs.
- I also have sinus infection starting up agian, early start for this time of year. Just cannot wait to find which season will be worst. This spring or next fall style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hehe.gif .
- My hearing loss after every other time is the only major consern for me, I have lost the majority of my hearing from age 4 or before due to ear infections, which are still present today every other season. with sinus and ear infections. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif I just wish I could find a way to end the cycle for once and for all before all of my hearing I have left is gone. and the ringing to stoooop.

Thanks again. Sprinkly. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif

I think it would be best to see a dietician for advice, given that your diet is going to be even more restricted and you have the anemia problem. If the iron supplements aren't helping and you have been taking them several months, other possible causes have to be investigated.

If you meant that you eat no fats at all not even plant oils I doubt if that is healthy. Not eating animal fats would be OK but I guess with the milk problems all dairy products are now out.

There's rice of course and the pulses and all the sorts of veg. We have members who are lactose intolerant and gluten intolerant. If you ask on the other sections, Related Conditions for example, I am sure you will get some tips.

I hope that the sinuses will improve now you have a better idea what's causing allergic reactions but some like the trees can hardly be avoided.

Good Luck

Clare
