Cleveland Clinic

Hi all:

My family doctor has suggested that I see a lupus specialist at either the Cleveland Clinic or the Mayo Clinic. Have any of you done this? If so, what types of experiences have you had with the doctors? Would you recommend one in particular?

I would prefer the Cleveland Clinic because it's much closer for me (I live in Michigan).

I already have a local rheumy, but I (and my family doctor) feel we need a second opion about treatment options.

I have heard more good things about the Cleveland clinic than I have mayo. Just make sure that whereever you go that you are actually seeing a rheumy that is a lupus specialist. I personally learned the hard way when I came out of remission that not all rheumy's even at well known hospitals specialize in lupus.
With Mayo and Cleveland C linic you can google each member of the rheumatology staff and see what research they have been involved with or what papers they have written. Then specifically request that doctor and be prepared to wait.
