3 years ago i suffered stage 4 kidney nephritis and was put on aggessive steriod/chemo treatment. though i had no hair for a while, it grew in thicker, and now i have long flowing locks of hair...that is a plus. the riods on the other hand were not so generous. i blew up like a balloon. i gained incredible weight. i have huge pathes of strech marks, well they are beyond strech marks really. on my legs, my upper arms, breasts, and my entire torso. i really want to loose more weight, but am afraid i will look like the saggy baggy elephant. guess i just want to know if any of you have experienced this. im only 25, and feel like i look like a monster. im afriad of meeting someone, and being rejected because of this.

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/overhere.gif i have have been on pred 3 years and i have started getting stretch marks, lucky enough i had problems with skin inflamations which left me dark so the stretch marchs don't show that much. i know it is going to look horride when i loose weight and grow lighter ,well i too am 25. i am married so i do'nt have to worry much about meeting people but my confidence aroumnd people has been shaken and it is worse when i wake up with puffy eyes and cheeks and the other weird things that come with sle. hope you get through this bad patch

I understand how you feel. I feel that too. I am a filipino,24 years old and been taking prednisone since I was diagnosed with lupus last 1999. I have horrible stretch marks as well, a lot of them. I gain weight, i lose weight. I am now 30mg of pred which makes my face big and makes me grow big!And aside from that, I have very very bad skin because of the rashes and scars that the lupus give me. But despite all of this, my british boyfriend for 3 years married me last year and we will be looking forward to our first year anniverysary this May. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/foryou.gif

thank you all for your kind comments. it does help me to know i am not alone. i just ended a relationship of 4 years. he was there before i got sick, and during. after i ballooned out he was not the same. it just hurts to know that we were to be married, and he said my physical appearance was not a problem, though his actions said otherwise. i just feel like i will never find someone to love me for me, especially when i really dont even like me. i apologize for my melon collie, but my friends cant really empathize with me. i am really glad i found this online community style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/shakehands.gif

I Never got one stretch Mark on my stomach from pregnacy!! Since being on prednisone I have gotten several style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/aww.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/scaredy.gif I did get some on my breast during pregnancy,but only a few. Now I have them there too. Prednisone causes them EVERYWHERE style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hissy1.gif From the red race style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops.gif To the broken capallaries on my face and legs To My dry frizzy hair, stained teeth style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/scaredy.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/scaredy.gif It is not enough that we have pain,sickness and on and on WE ALSO HAVE ALL THIS OTHER STUFF!! But I thank GOD I AM HERE!!!!!!!(EVEN THOUGH I DO CRY ABOUT THIS OFTEN style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif )GOD BLESS!!

i had 4 babys and never had a stretch mark.
still looked real good in a two piece bathing suit,

now i have them everywhere,but am thankful to be alive
i only wish i could still take steriods.

someone will come alone that will love you for who
you are now. you'll find mr. right,and none of this
stuff won't matter one bit to him.
