hi!
I am so afraid that i can't have a baby anymore because of my kidney problems. I have nephritis and the doctor said that I may be having cyclophosphamide again which can damage the ovaries and thus willl not be possible for me to be pregnant. I feel so sad about it. The doc said, cyclophosphamide is the best treatment they have for nephritis. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif
Today is the decision day what would they gonna do with my kidneys. I am quite nervous but I hope the docs will tell me that 'no cyclo anymore'!

I am so sorry you are having to go through all this.

Have they mentioned Cellcept, also known as MMF, as an option ? It's being used a lot these days for kidney disease as it has fewer side effects. Ask them about it.

The chances of infertility from Cytoxan are higher in older women, over the age of 30 I think. Lupron is being used in some places to reduce the risk. Ask them about that too.

You could be lucky like Songbird has been. While there is hope, focus on it.

Wishing you Well

Clare

Hi Watslove

I can understand your fears, but I do agree with Teri, NEVER SAY NEVER. My cousin had kidney involement and has two beautiful children, I on the other hand do not have kidney involement and was unable to have children. Keep talking to your doctors, they really are looking out for you. Wishing you luck. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/clover.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/clover.gif

Im in my 20s got kidney involvement. Ive tried not to think about having kids just in
case it cant happen. I asked my doc about it but she was very vague. I wanted to ask you:
Did ur cousin get pregnant whilst on no meds?
How did they manage 2 keep the lupus at bay without harming the baby?
Did the kidneys play up during the pregnancy?

Sorry about all the questions its jus that the info ive found is always vague and general when it comes to lupus and pregnancy.

thank you so much guys for the encouragement I received from here. Yes, there is still light at the end of the tunnel. That's what I should always think. Thank you again.
