Hi, I understand what you are going through and know how frustrating it can be to find a doctor that will listen. It's even harder to find one that will look at at your symptoms and not just the test results. I live in North Georgia and I drive to Atlanta to see my rheumy. It is a husband & wife team, I see Dr. Kimberly Wilson you can reach her at 404-351-2551. She spent 1 1/2 hr with me on the first visit, explainign things, asking me questions and allowing me to ask questions, etc., even on follow up visits she does not rush me or blow me off. It takes a few months to get in to see her and the wait before your appt time is sometimes long but she is totally worth it! I don't get upset over the wait as I know she is giving someone else the same time she gives me. Good luck style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/clover.gif I hope you get some answers soon. Let me know if you have any questions about Dr. Kimberly. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/foryou.gif

Another option is to get an appointment with the rheumatology department of your nearest university affiliated medical school clinic. They provide excellent care. Your case is discussed by multiple graduate doctors and they know about the latest treatments. In addition they allow you to pay in accordance with your income if you do not have insurance.

Please know that you're not alone and that even though we often have to wait for a resolution, the resolution does finally come.

Sending you a gentle hug-- style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hugbetter.gif

Where in Georgia do you live? I am in the Atlanta area and I go to Emory Healthcare which seems to be a good network of rhuematologists. I see Dr. Jonathan Waltuck. I like him because he explains things to me and when I call him, he calls me back almost immediately and i'm comfortable talking with him. One day, I was freaking out because my vision changed and i left a message for him to call me. He could tell that I was extremely uspset so he called a colleague of his that was an opto-nuerologist (something like that) and got me an appointment for the next day to get my vision checked. Everything turned out okay so it was a relief. He also seems to monitor my bloodwork better than my other doctor did and is more concerned with catching things early.
Good luck! I know how frustrating it is to find good rhuemie, but it's important!

Sorry you are having such a difficult time right now. Where in Ga are you?

There is a good rheumy in Thomasville Georgia. I used to go to him, but he no longer takes my insurance so I had to change.

Hi Pebblesowi,
I am Gina and live in Macon. I see Dr Hugh Spruell in Decatur, a 2 hour drive for me on a good day, but he is worth the drive. I can give you his address and phone number if you like. Just email me at gigi1078@aol.com and I will be glad to provide this information.
Take care
Peachy hugs,
Gina

Hey,

I'm from North Georgia too and I'm the one who recommended Dr. Kimberley to Stacie.. I've been seeing her since June 2000 and I have recommended her to Stacie and Jane who is also a memeber here and lots of others. She and her hubby Hayes are great and do take the time to listen and help you. I just wish I had gone to her much earlier.. They are both great rheumatologists. She was the chairperson of the Lupus Foundation of Georgia for a while, don't know if she still is. They are just so nice and very easy to talk to. They really care about their patients. I think it does take 6 months to get an appt but it is worth it.

I do hope you can find one that will help you if you don't go to these suggested.

Hello,
I had been told about a Doctor in Tifton,Ga., Dr. Mossell. I had heard so many wonderful things about him . It almost sounded too good to be true.
Then I had my first appt with him three weeks ago and I was so impressed. I have now been back for my first follow up and he is truly a compassionate, kind, and thorough Doctor.
I was diagnosed back in 1995. In the course of all these years with Lupus and Fibro, seeing Docs on referral of Social Security and My Long Term Disability Insurance , I have NEVER met a Rheumie that is on the ball like Dr. Mossell.

I was so impressed that his office called me two days after my first appt to see how I was feeling.
You can reach Dr. Moselle at 229-391-3320.

Wishing You success in finding a Doctor who is right for you !!!!
