My son is 10 years old and for the last 7 weeks has had a lung/chest infection.
He was put on a inhaler and amoxicillin for 2 weeks seemed to get better so the doctor stopped all meds(chest x-ray clear white cells"raised")

Within a week it all came back ..she has put him back on the inhaler and amoxicillin and has done blood tests fot ana and rheumatiod (sp?)something (can't remember)

He now is 29kgs as the "fat "(slim to start with) just fell off him.

I am so scared that he has a autoimmune disease. He got upset that the doctor said she will write to a paediatric consultant telling him of my uctd and now he thinks he's "got what mum's got "(his words not mine)

I just needed to tell someone, my m.i.l is too ill to talk to, it would upset her too much , my hubbie is "well we dont know untill the blood test comes back" ( lets not think about it) and my mum worries too much about everything anyway.

how long till ana test comes back normally?
when i have mine done at st toms i have to wait 6 months untill my next appointment for results.

Thanks for reading.

Oh, Sue! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif
I am so sorry your little one has been feeling so unwell. It is very difficult when our children are sick and suffering. We feel like we should be able to take all that away and make it better.

Why don't you call the doc and ask how long it will be until your son's results are back? Maybe you could ask them to call you when the results are in even if they're negative.

In the event that your son's tests come back positive, it doesn't necessarily mean an autoimmune diagnosis, but will serve to point the docs in the right direction to investigate. If they do come back positive, I hope a diagnosis follows quickly so that you and your family won't have to wait in limbo and so that your son can begin appropriate treatment.
