I was talking to some women the other day who have back problems..I'm not sure of the spelling of this thing as they spelled it for me..anyway, this thing somehow interupts the signals to your brain that cause pain. Has anyone every heard of it being used for Lupus or MS?? Just curious. When {and if..it's been so long now} I get to see a Rhuemy,I will ask about it..That's how they spelled it .. "Spinal cord Stimator inplant"
Hope all is well with y'all...

Carla,

I think it is primarily designed for back pain. While some people do get back pain with lupus it is not nearly as frequent as other areas of the body. I will be interested to hear what your doctor has to say about it.

Take care,
Karen

Hi, Carla!
I have a friend with rheumatoid arthritis that has one of those for her low back. It has a remote control that she can adjust as needed.

The comedian/actor Jerry Lewis has one, also. He claims he can use the remote to open and close his garage door!

I have spinal problems, as well, and am being considered for one. From what I understand a box is implanted in the lower belly with an internal wire to the spinal nerves. For adjustment, the remote is pointed at the box in the belly.

If you've got a very painful back condition and other options have not helped it's worth inquiring about.
