Hi

I had to drive for a couple of hours the other day, which is longer than I usually drive for now. It was quite sunny and I feel that the sun 'got' to me through the windscreen/windshield.

Fatigue worse, joints sorer.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thx - Scottie

Yes Scottie, I get this too. I am looking into getting some tinting for the car windows. It would be nice to hear from others who have tinted windows to see if it works. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/umm.gif

Hi,

Yes car trips can be murder for me, but a lot better since I've been on my meds. However I ALWAYS wear sunscreen when travelling in the car and also sunglasses, long sleeves are a good idea too. I think the glass intensifies the suns rays, just as water or snow reflection can. We too are looking into tinted windows, some here have them and they do help from what I've heard, but you still need to take the other precautions.

love

Hi Scottie,

Welcome to the boards. Like you I had a real problem with driving and riding on trips without getting sick from the sun exposure.

I searched for sometime before I found a product called Llumar UV Shield. I caution you to be sure whoever you talk with about this product really knows what they are talking about. It will be about twice as expensive as regular windshield tints. The other thing that I liked about the product was that it was almost clear and did not add tint to my windows. I have trouble enough seeing at night without obscuring the windows with a dark tint.

Since installing this product on my car I have no further problems with sickness from sun exposure in the car. I also wear a wide brim hat at all times and long sleeves and long pants. There is also a product that I thought I might mention that might be helpful in that area. There are clothing lines made from a sunproof material and you can also buy material that is sunproof. I also heard from my neice that Rit Dyes makes a product that you can wash your clothes in and make them sun protective. I have not tried this product so don't know if it really works.

Hope this was helpful and wishing you my best,

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wavey.gif Hi scottie, I wanted to get on the boards, for as many to read as possible
to read. In Florida, if you contact the license tag people, you can get a special -legal
permit- to put extra dark tint, darker than the law allows for regular cars, on your
windows. They have a legal page printed up and everything. Cool!!!

Be well and keep posting. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

Hey - once again - it's so nice to know I'm not alone! (Nice meeting you too Teri)

Thanks for the replies and the advice.

I have a 10 hour drive in front of me - and I'm dreading it! Out with the sunblock - the sleeves and the hat!

Why am I driving for 10 hours? My Mother-in-law has just passed away and my husband's up there already and I need to make it to the funeral.

(I'll probably sleep through it!)

See you on the boards next week. (I do a lot of lurking) Will be away till then.

Take care and have a good Easter. Scottie
