Hello! I haven't been posting much lately. Things had seemed to be on an even level but have recently kicked up a notch. I don't have a dx yet, but have joint pain, dry eyes, pleurisy, raynauds symptoms, etc, but all are very mild compared to what I have seen and heard of autoimmune diseases. I have been to a few Rheumies who weren't much help, but I wanted to run something past you guys with true experience. One of the doc's asked me about stiffness in the morning that coorelates with the joint pain. I have migrating pain in the joints, with the hips, shoulders, and knees (sometimes both, sometimes one at a time) being the worst, but it can hit anywhere. However, I don't have the extreme fatigue that seems typical with Lupies, and also no swelling or morning stiffness in the joints. Can Lupus (or the other autoimmune ds.'s) cause this kind of pain, with no outward signs, and no morning stiffness? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/flowers.gif Thanks!! Nikki

Thanks, Teri. Yes, I have been tested for Fybromyalgia, but I don't have the tender points. My symptoms began about 5 years ago, so ya, patience certainly is a virtue! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif

Hi Nikki

I'd keep trying to get a dx. Maybe not all lupies get fatigue as much as others, and what you describe does sound like lupus or another autoimmune disease.

Stay Well

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wavey.gif Hi lupty, As far as I know, the answer is yes. Lupus can and does affect everyone differently.
My Rheumy says most of his patients show some swelling in their hands, but not all. I hhave that morning stiffness, much like you. If I wake at say 8 am. I take until 8;30 to roll back and forth, move my legs, make my hands move etc. And I go to him with such severe joint pain in my hands, and yet, I have no swelling
at all. Go figure, I can't make any sense of it. But, this is true for lupus; it is different for everyone.

Be well and keep posting. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

Hi...I have a lot of joint pain, but I have never had any visible swelling and I am not super stiff in the morning. It is hard for me to get up from certain positions though.

My pains happen all over with no rhyme or reason, and sometimes something might only hurt or 5 minutes...it's crazy!

Hello!

I was first diagnosed with ITP and it was my weird joint pain that lead to the rediagnoses of SLE. My joints dont swell, but I felt like the tin man when he a lil oil, it took ages for me to unstiffen my joints, especially my knees. The morning can be bad but the stiffness can be from just sitting in the same postion for too long. My vanity is eased by the fact my joints dont swell, but before I was diagnosed I really wanted some physical sign of the pain so Drs wouldnt look at me like i was attention seeking at best and nuts at worst!

We dont all have the same symptoms and you dont have to have them all to have lupus, it's worth mentioning because it is something alot of us experience.

Good luck getting a diagnoses!

I agree with the others maybe try a new rheumy and see if they can make heads or tails of your symptoms because it does sound like some type of autoimmune disease...

let us know what happens...
