Hello everyone.

I am just wondering does anyone feel shortness of breathe? I mean like you can't seem to gasp your breathe. Don't get me wrong, I am breathing and getting enough air. You can't hear me gasp. It is just a feeling of being winded I guess. Like you ran the race track.

Have been feeling a little worse lately.

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wavey.gif Hi there giirlie, sorry to hear that you are not quite up
to par. I have had breathing problems only twice. Once was when
I couldn't breath air to get into my lungs (so I thought ) to swallow my food.
That time I found out that I needed my eosephagus streched, and it
worked. The second time was when I had been first put on prednisone.
I just blew up in weight under my breasts, within a few weeks and I
was gasping for air. Rheumy took me off, that worked. I hope you find
your reason, sweetie.

Be well and keep posting. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

Hi paula i know its not nice struggling to breathe, i was just like it last year andcthe year before, its taken ages for me to feel better, than i was, but i had - had pleurisy and they were doing test to rule out shrinking lung syndrome,, which thank god the sle has not damaged my lungs, but i did have a bad flare, so weather thats what had made the breathing worse i dont know, i wouldnt say my breathing is brilliant but its umch better now, please do go and get thios checked out, to see whats going on,

I have this problem too, and have been checked for all sorts of things...still no idea why. Have been having a real go of it this week too. But yes, best to let the doc know and see what he/she says.

Take care,

Hi Paula,

I am very susceptible to this symptom. Last week I was getting it bad and almost passed out a couple of times. Someone described it well on the boards by saying their lungs felt "water-logged". I went in to see my dr after a couple of days of this heavy feeling in my chest. While feeling not too bad on a scale of poo-poo* to good, my blood oxygen saturation was below normal. That suprised me. Fatigue was my main complaint at the appointment. As usual, the symptom would vary in intensity throughout the course of a day.

Anyway, I'm back on Advair now (an inhaled steroid) and i think that helps.

Oh, and my GP is not entirely convinced I don't have stomach problems so now they want to put a camera down there......great style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/aww.gif And, I am not entirely convinced it is not my heart. So there will be more tests and more drs appts till they figure this out. They haven't diagnosed the problem as asthma or COPD yet either.

This symptom is definitely one you need to follow up and see your dr on.

I have had the same problem lately. I am not huffing and puffing, but yet I do feel like it may be a bit more difficult to take a full breath. When these does occur, I also notice that my heart rate increases as I should. When this has occured in the past, it was difficult to catch and when we finally did, my blood pressure was higher and the doc increased my meds and life was swell once again. I haven't been to the doc yet because it isn't a continual problem and my blood pressure is normal. I do notice it when the humidity is high or right after exercising, walking up a flight of stairs. I suppose if it keeps it up, then I'l let the good doc know.

Meantime, if this is something new for you, it wouldn't hurt to let the doc know.

YES! I've had the same hard to describe feeling. Mines like an annoying, uncomfortable tightness/bloating/pressure in the center of my chest and I feel like I can't satisfy a breath even when I breathe deeply. Sort of feels like someone is inflating a balloon under my breastbone.

I'd wake up at night with it and not be able to get back to sleep, then I'd lay there and get more and more anxious and it would get worse.

Three days of this and I called my pulmonary doc. The doc on call for him told me to come right in to ER for CT scan. (Of course it had to be a Sat.) There was concern of a possible lung infection with me being on Cellcept and my boys having chicken pox.

My X-ray, EKG and bloodwork were all normal and my CT scan showed no change from the month previous. My oxygen saturation was 97%. We chalked it up to something to do with my esophagus and anxiety. I have an appt with gastroenterologist now and I can't wait to find out what exactly is going on down there.

Its interesting that an esophagus stretch aleviated it for you, halfpint. I wonder it that's what I need?
