Hi again,
Something weird going on with my messed-up body as usual. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif I have been having lupus headaches, and my spine hurts (yup, my spine, all the way down). These are symptoms I've had before.
Now my neck is really stiff! I can move it, but it hurts whether I move it or not and it's hard to move it the full range I'm supposed to be able to. (Does that make any sense?) This is not something I have ever heard associated with lupus. Have any of you had it?
I have been having the "warning signs" I get of TIAs all week without having another one since the one on Tuesday. I don't know what my rheumy is going to do with me; wonder if he's going to let me go home?
(BTW I had to show up at rheumy's offc to do it--apparently the receptionist doesn't understand the phrase. "I need to be worked in," but I have an appointment tomorrow at 4:20 pm. Which, knowing my rheumy's thoroughness and his popularity, means 7 pm. At least I may feel better after seeing him.)

Hi, Songbird! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
Sorry you're having such a horrible time. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif
I'm glad you're getting these things checked out. Anytime you get something that is NEW or WORSE than it's been in the past, it's a good idea to go in and let the doc know about it.
I don't know if specifically the neck is stiff with lupus joint problems, but since several vertebral joints are involved it's probably safe to say that a stiff neck from lupus is, at least, POSSIBLE.
I have a stiff neck all the time, but I've had degenerative spinal disease for a number of years and if mine is even in part due to lupus, I'd have no way of knowing. It can be a real trial to attempt to look over one shoulder or another. In fact, it's something I haven't been able to do for a very long time.
I hope your neck problems are short lived and that things start improving for you soon!

Next time you see the dr have them check the curvature of your spine. Muscle weakness and neurological disorders can affect it.
Hi,
I'm so glad they are working you in, you really do need to be seen ((((((hugs)))))
style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hugbetter.gif and there's a few extra for that awful spinal pain- if its CNS related then you have ALL my sympathy, I never want to experience that again !
Take care and lets hope he can work some magic tomorrow.
love

Hi,
I also have a very stiff neck and I was diagnosed with SLE on March 15, 2006. I am getting an MRI because the neurologist thinks that it is CNS involvement.
Is a stiff neck a sign of CNS involvement?
Anyone?
Hope your neck feels better. Feels weird to have a real pain in the neck eh? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Jenn-It could be. I don't know for sure but wouldn't be too surprised. CNS is the only organ involvement I have. (And isn't that enough?!)
I know, too, that I have idiopathic transverse myelitis. (Basically the lupus is eating away at the lining of my spinal cord.) I don't know if that is always happening or just in flares-not sure how TM works. But there's some chance it's related. I usually think I know a lot about lupus but I'm really out of my depth here.

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wavey.gif Hi Song, I sorry that you are getting all these things on your plate.
It sounds like you are really hurting. Some of it sounds like fibro, most of
the rest sounds like" I don;t know". I would ask for an x-ray of your upper
sping, it might shed some light on things. Other than that , I don't know
what to tell ya. Just please get to see your dr. a.s.a.p., and let us know.
Be well and keep posting. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

Man,
That does suck that you have CNS involvement style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hissy1.gif . I'm really sorry to hear about that.
I am just praying that they don't find anything on the MRI when I get it done. You know when I first got Lupus about a month ago I thought about the worst organ that could be affected. I totally thought that organ would be my Kidneys. Now, I'm sorry to say this but I wish it was my kidneys instead of my CNS & PNS!
Like I remember thinking, man am I lucky my Kidneys are O.k. Who cares about my stiff neck, psychiatric disturbances, depression, cognitive impairments or migraines? I think that having CNS involvement is really scarey and no offence to any of the Lupies with Renal failure because I know that must be just as scarey but Man!!
Lupus LEAVE OUR CNS ALONE!!!!! Go after my feet or something I can just cut off! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif
Lupus Sucks,
Sincerely,
Jenn
