Hi,
I'm a new member here but I've been diagnosed with lupus since I was 16 (I'm now 23). I'd say that I've been the luckier ones in that since having been diagnosed, I've only had one serious flare up that landed me in a hospital.
Anyway, since yesterday, I've been running a low grade fever. Do any of you guys get low grade fevers? Other than the fever, I'm not coughing or sneezing, so I don't think its the flu. What should I do? I'm thinking I'll go my rheumy only if I get worse because it's end of the school term and everything is due.
What are your experiences with low grade fever? Do they usually go away by themselves?

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wavey.gif Hi edith, and welcome to you. Yes I almost always seem to have a low grade fever. What do I do about it? Nothing. It really doesn't bother me, much, and it's just like my shadow, it follows me around every where I go. I have never even mentioned it to my Rheumy, cuz, what can he do? It is just something that I don't let bother me. Life is too short.
Be well. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

Low grade fever is a common symptom in lupus. Your body is letting you know things aren't right. Since it is the end of the term you are probably pushing yourself a litttle too hard to get everything done. Try to get a little more rest, eat right and stay up on your meds. Good luck with everything.
Take care,

I've had the low grade fever a few days now too along with a nagging headache. When I get that achey flu feeling I imagine I'm in a minor flare. I just try and get as much rest as possible and see it through. I'm a band teacher and things have been very busy and stressful. Now that contest is over I'm falling apart. The roof of my mouth is so sore I can hardly eat for the past three days. Ive tried to get a mirror to see what the problem is but the mirror just fogs up. It's right behind my front teeth. My two front teeth are even sore. I'm single so nobody here but the dog to help me. I have Sjogren's so it's not unusual for me to have mouth soreness. Just eating scratchy foods or brushing my teeth too hard can cause problems. Now normal people would never understand these annoying symptoms. Actually I feel pretty crappy. I may go by my dentist tomorrow and see if he will take a look. It's embarrassing to ask a friend. They'd think I was weird. I'd have to lay down on the floor and give them a flashlight to look at the roof of my mouth. It was over 80 degrees here today and when I got in my hot car after school I thought I'd die. The heat really does me in. Thanks for listening to me complain. I hope you feel better soon. music

heyy .. a low grade fever for a day or so shouldnt be too alarming. But once your done with school and you are still having problems you should prolly go see a doctory.
You could even e-mail/call your doctor and just let them know you have been having them .. that way they can give u suggestions and if you have to come in at a later day they will have some sort of idea of whats going on.
ive had to do that multiple timess
feel better!

Thanks for all your advice. I agree, its probably a mini flare up. I should probably call my doc but since its Easter... everyone's on half day today!
Accompanied by the low grade fever, I also have headaches and that icky flu feeling + mouth sores so I feel like whinning about how I can't get my work done. But... sometimes, I guess I'd just have to suck it up and plough on through.
Music, I'm sorry you're feeling lousy. We all have those days. Sometimes, we just need some place to vent. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif Hope you feel better soon.

Hi there. If you are having additional symptoms that are worsening you should call your doctor. You also should call if it is over 101. You probably knew that though. I am sure being the end of the term is bringing on sleepless nights and stress. Try to rest up as much as possible, control your pain, and take something to bring the fever down.
I have low grade fevers almost all the time. The days I don't have them I am happy. Like someone before me said, it is my shadow too.
Hope you do well this term and hope you feel better not worse, but remember if your symptoms are worsening, go now not later.

Well, I think low grade fever is just anything above 37C but under 38C.
Along with the fever, I get that achy flu-like feeling, along with a headache.
