I'm not really clued up on this at all, some people have said to me that I can register and some have said that they don't register you anymore, so I would be grateful for any input or info.
Also, my walking is gradually getting worse, i've found that I can no longer walk across our works car park without my knees seizing or my hip grating. Someone told me that I could apply for a blue badge even though I work full time, has anyone else managed to do this or do you have to claim anything else first?
My working hours mean that I don't get much time to ring Councils etc. during the day and then they don't work at weekends so I would be grateful for any pointers.

Hi Dee
I think you are talking about the Blue Badge Parking scheme ? I have no personal experience so this is just what I found on-line.
It doesn't seem to have anything to do with whether you are working or not, just if you fit into a given category.
From a gov.uk site
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>
You can get a badge if:
.you receive the higher rate of the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance;
.you receive a War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement;
.you use a motor vehicle supplied for disabled people by a Government Health Department;
.you are registered blind;
.you have a severe disability in both upper limbs, regularly drive a motor vehicle but cannot turn the steering wheel of a motor vehicle by hand even if that wheel is fitted with a turning knob; or
.you have a permanent and substantial disability which means you are unable to walk or have very considerable difficulty in walking. In this case you may be asked to answer a series of questions to help the local authority determine whether you are eligible for a badge. People with a psychological disorder will not normally qualify unless their impairment causes very considerable, and not intermittent, difficulty in walking.

However there are comments on the situation on private carparks like supermarkets , which would include I suppose your works carpark.
Have you thought about applying for DLA ? There's quite a lot of info and resources about that here. It is not means dependent.
You will have to contact your LA for the questionnaire about " permanent or substantial disability"
Perhaps they have it on their website and you can do it online.
Best of Luck Dee - I am sorry you are having so many difficulties.
Hugs from Clare

Hey,
I am from Canada and I don't know if its any different (I'm sure its somewhat the same rules). In Canada you get your Dr. to fill out a form requesting it and then send in $18/year. The Dr. can request a permanent one or temporary (because our condition is so far determined permanent ofcourse that would be our case). Then every 5 years we have to renew it with another $18.
I thought it would be a hassel to get mine being I'm so young, but as long as you have ur Dr's word!! I got it within a month I think.
So good luck. Your Dr. should be able to let you know how about to get one.

Hi Vette
You do not have to register as disabled since the introduction of the Disability Discrmination Act (DDA). If you are disabled as defined by the DDA, then you are accepted as disabled and protected under the act
- try this site for information
http://www.drc-gb.org/knowyourrights/definition.asp
You may also be able to claim Disability living Allowance. This benefit is not means tested, so even if you work you can still make a claim - try this site
http://www.benefitsnow.co.uk/
Try this government Disability helpline number
0800 882200. Explain your personal circumstances and ask what you can claim.
The Blue Badge Parking permit can be obtained from your local council. Phone them and ask what is required.
Good luck loadsa work to do!
Regards
