Hi everyone.
I have never had this problem before and I am not sure if even related to the sun. I was outside for about 1/2 in the sun. Late in the day too. Figure see what happens, sort of test things out to see where I am at with the whole sun business this year.
About 1 hour later after being in the sun, I went to kneel down to get a pan and my knees were hard to bend, move my feet and my ankles were hard to bend. I look at them and they are swollen. Not severely swollen, but swollen just enough to see it and to feel it.
Has anyone had this in relation to the sun or perhaps it has nothing to do wtih the sun? I will keep a watch on things to make sure the swelling doesn't keep getting worse.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Paula
My feet swell up almost as soon as I expose them to sun... even if it's not hot... you can watch them inflate. They also go purple and red mottled and my toenails go blue. My hands swell a bit too with red blotches. I've mentioned it to my rheumy but he didn't have anything to say about it. I thought maybe a combo of Raynauds and positive antiRo, I'm pretty photo sensitive. It does seem to be directly related to sun/bright daylight/fluorescent light exposure and not temperature in this case.
I don't expose my feet to the sun very often but it's hard to keep the hands away entirely... but I guess this is the best thing to do!
Take care

Hi , I'm Elaine,
The sun is our enemy, make sure to cover up and/ or use uv ray protection lotion. The swelling might be any number of factors, even remitory, but might be the sun also. But I'm not 100% sure

Just my 2 cents:
It has been MY experience that ANY body part that gets exposed to sunlight SWELLS UP almost immediately... AND turns red... AND gets HOT!

Hi Paula
My body is reacting worse to the sun each year. I did pull weeds about 6 wks ago and had a flare that I am just recovering from. And I mean to tell you it was very bad. I was only out for about 45 minutes, but was too hard headed style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hissy1.gif to wear my floppy hat. I'll know better next time.
Sometimes we just have to learn the hard way style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif
I hope you feel better soon.
Hugs to you!

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/jump.gif Hi Helloos, Sorry that you had to learn the hard way, but I
think that it just puts you in the same boat as we all are in," slow
to learn, and need to try it for ourselves". Yes, The Sun is Our Enemy.
Be more careful dear, we like having you around.
Be well and keep posting. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

Thanks to all the replies.
Hmmmm I still don't know for sure if it was the sun and don't want to believe it was the sun. But, probably was seeing some of you have the same experience. This has never ever happened to me before.
The swelling went down the next day and all seems to ok at the moment. So it was a fast 12 hour thing thank goodness.
I will keep a watch on things and I am afraid to say, but I will be sitting out in the sun for a short while to see if it happens again. I'll do 10 minutes. I know some of you will disagree, but I really have to know is it the sun or something else. Well that won't happen until next weekend.
Thanks to all of you.
