Hello all, I wonder if any of you could help me. I returned to work 8 months ago and I am really struggling to do my hours. I only work part time, 4 hours a day and I can just about manage that for 3 or 4 days, but 5 wipes me out.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any benefit or help I can get if I reduce my hours. I need to work for financial reasons but it is doing my SLE no good at all. I already get motobility.

Thankyou for your help. Donna xxx

Hi Donna,

It is such a struggle to keep going, but it is worth making enquiries about the support that may help you stay in work.

I have found this site that may give you the advice you need, both to make work more comfortable, and any benefits that you may be eligible to claim

http://www.direct.gov.uk/DisabledPeople/fs/en

I would suggest a call to the Access to Work Team - you will find the link in this section - may be a good place to start. They should help you and your employer to explore the options.

If your employer is reluctant try the Disabilty Rights Commission site - also posted in this section - and give them a call.

For advice on benefits try this number Disability Helpline 0800 882200. Explain your particular circumstances so you can be advised on what is available to you.

There is help out there to find the best solution for you!

Let me know how you get on

Regards

Bern

Hi Genette and thankyou for your reply. I am pleased you have been able to find a way of not working financially, it really is very hard working with this illness. I am going to ring the benefits agency and see what forms I need and I will be applying for any financial help I can and hope I will be able to give up work. The shame is I really enjoy my job and wish I could keep working.

Once again, thankyou.
