Dear Jane,

Yes and yes...

Quite often someone who's lupus is untreated or not well controlled will loose weight unintentionally.

Prednisolone stimulates the appetite and changes the body's distribution of fat (more on the cheeks and tummy, less on the legs), so lots of people gain weight on it.

Hi there,

Yes weight gain is one symptom..... I lost a ton of weight before I found out what the cause was... And some people here have said they had the opposite happen to them....

Take care
Love Penny

unexplained weight is one of the symptoms, how ever i gained.
i went up to 315 on predisone & only 5ft 4in's tall or short.
i've lost well over 100lbs, but have been at this weight
for about 4 years. can't get another lb. off.

i hate being fat ,short, & bald.

but love being alive

great topic!!
when i first got quite sick i lost a lot of weight. since gained and lost with no real reason. i seem to go up and down pant sizes in days. it's very frustrating trying to figure out how to control your weight when your body seems to have a mind of it's own!!
good luck
