Well, after all this time, tests, and procedures, I think my nuero has finally come to the decision that I have lupus! Can you imagine! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Spinal tap results came back almost all of it elevated, but neuro says it's not MS (I DO have someone up there looking out for me!) but I obviously have some sort of autoimmune problem going on (duh ... ) and my central nervous system is completley inflamed. I have the feeling this flare is going to be one of the nasty ones. I also have a respiratory infection and pluerisy AGAIN.

I also got to meet with my new rheumy this week, and the initial exam went much better than I expected. Going on Imuran and Coumadin, but have to drop my wonder drug Naproxen - not good. They gave me opiates for pain instead, but come on, I have a life to lead!

But I digress - I have looked all over the internet trying to determine just what these test results mean, and all I can find is referrences to MS - any help would be so greatly appreciated! Even if you could suggest a web site to look at it would be something more than what I have.

Whew, if you have made it this far through this long post - I thank you! I'm going up to my place in the mountains for the weekend where I don't have a computer if I don't seem to be responding.

Thank you to everyone for your support - you are precious to me! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Thanx.gif Tracy

Hi Tracy!

I'm so glad your new Rheumy appt went well and he's willing to try and sort you out, and control the disease by the sound of it style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/woohoo.gif ..................... someone is listening at last and with the Neuro fully on board now too then things are moving forward style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/flowers.gif

There's a lot of fragmented stuff on the net about CNS Lupus and findings with diagnostic testing, its such a darn elusive thing sometimes but if they do all they should do then somewhere along the line it will be proved!

Here's a helpful snippet from Daniel Wallace's third edition of THE LUPUS BOOK:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>In CNS Vascultis spinal fluid often shows a high white cell count, elevated protein levels, LE (lupus) cells, and low sugar
values. If available, high levels of antineuronal antibodies may also be found. An immunologic reaction (but not necessarily
acute CNS vasculitis) is suggested if oligoclonal bands or increased IgG synthesis rates are found. Patients with the antiphospholipid synbrome usually have normal spinal fluid. If large numbers of red blood cells are present in all the tubes of spinal fluid obtained, bleeding from the brain's blood vessels is suggested. Infections yield positive spinal fluid cultures for bacteria or fungi. Viruses are detected by measuring levels of viral antibodies. [/b][/quote]

and here's a site with a little bit of info on certain findings, in the end its up to the docs experience and findings in your particular case (where have we heard that before style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif ) but this gives you an idea.

love and hugs and style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif I'm so glad things are finally coming together for you, its not before time style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hugbetter.gif
