Hi:
I have not write in a while, because I went to Puerto Rico to do invitro ( my sister was going to be our surrogate mother). Well, it didn't work out and the only thing I got out of that was, besides a flair, a severe cervix infection. While dealing with all this yesterday my sister called me to tell me that the doctor just diagnosed my 12 yr old niece with lupus too. I know how hard is this, because for me was like a bucket with ice water. I just gave her the site address and asked her to log in for support. I will help my niece as much as I can. Don't americans said when it rain, it pours.?

Hi,
That must be so dissapointing that the surrogate mother did not work out for you. I know what it is like to long for a baby. I hope that when things settle down you can look down other avenues for children. I hope your cervix infection has cleared up by now. Did you call your doctor about your flare? I just went through a flare and when the steroid injection didn't clear it all up I had a medrol dose pack (steroids) and that stomped the flare right back down.
I am also sorry to hear about your niece. Your sister might want to become a member here more so than your niece at the moment. We have a pediatric forum for parents of children with lupus and some of the mothers also come and join us in the chatroom.
Yes when it rains it pours. The good end of that tale is that eventually the sun comes out and presents you with a beautiful rainbow.
let us know how you get on.
Take care,
Karen

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.................................. I know that phrase all to well. When it just seems that nothing else could go wrong, it does. I often times think that in a former life, I must have really ticked someone off!!!

Hi, I am so sorry the vitro didn't work out. I know it has to be very depressing for you. I am also very sorry for your niece she is so young. But she will have you to offer her support and guidence. Most young patients with lupus do not have someone like you to depend on.
I will be thinking about you and your family.

I am so sorry about all this going on for you right now. Its very sad that the surrogacy didnt work out. Being a mother is such a strong urge in most women.... I hope you have some good supports around you to help you through this time.
Also much sympathies to your niece and sister. Its very tough to be diagnosed with Lupus at such a young age. How is she doing at the moment? Have they started her on any treatment?
Again, Im very sorry that all of this is going on for you right now.
Take care
