style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wavey.gif guys,
I haven't actually posted a new topic in a while. Things have been going pretty well for me since my rituxan treatments, but things took a turn downhill today. I woke up this morning with the top of my hand swollen, and it is still swollen and sore. Also the whole left side of my body is aching. I was over at a friends house on Sunday night and we stood outside for 10 minutes. I woke up on Monday covered with bites on my backside arms and hand. And today as mentioned above, I am just achy and in a lot of pain. I called my rhuemy and she fit me in to come at 3:15. I hate to be a pain, but I really don't feel well. And what is worse, I am so upset because I really had been doing well for the last couple of months.
I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with mosquito bites.
I will keep you guys updated. Thanks for listening. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/flowers.gif

Hi there
yes can fully understand the adverse reaction to mosquito bites, I get that reaction with any kind of bite and I am sure that lots of other people get it too, we must have nice sweet blood style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
All I can suggest is that you try an insect repellant everyday, as you would on holidayjustto go with the sun cream.
Good luck and hope you fel better soon.

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/foryou.gif Hi there, are you on plaquenil? My dermy told me that it changes your blood from a roast beef dinner for mosquitos, to a rancid stomache ache, hah! I guess it doesn't stop you reacting badly to the bite tho' huh? I agree, insect repellant is the only way.
Hope you feel better quickly,

Hi specialk
I can sypmpathise with you.......I have very adverse reactions to mosquito bites however maybe there is something in what CarolMc say as I must admit since being on Plaquenil I haven't really had any mosquito bites even when we went to cyprus last year.
Hope the rheumie appointment goes well and they are able to give you something for the pain....I think they may increase or start you on steroids to prevent a full blown flare.
Jules.....do you think that having rhesus neg blood makes us more biteable??? I am rhesus B neg blood group and I did used to suffer more than my siblings when we were younger with reaction to bites or stings. It would be intersting to know.
Look forward to hearing that you are feeling better Specialk xxxxxhazel

Hi guys, style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Thanx.gif so much for your replies. I ended up calling the doc back and they were able to change my appointment to 1230. She could tell the difference in my arms and how the left one was swollen and warm. She also noticed how red I was in the face, which I have been trying to get for her to notice for about a year. She ran bloodwork and should begin to get results today. She also threatened prednisone if the outcome to the tests come back bad. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif I am hanging in there and pray style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/halo.gif that I have a better day today.
Thanks for all of your replies.
PS, I am on nothing right now. Have been off of Plaquenil since the beginning of the year.
