Lipitor

Has anyone taken Lipitor?? Did anyone get really bad pain in the hips when getting up from a laying down or sitting position. Sometimes they even give out on me. T hey think it might be the Lipitor, I have been off of it for two days and today they seem to be improving.

I dont take Lipitor but I did a google search and there was some interesting reading.....

Hi Leah,
I take Lipitor , have for a few years now. I do have pain in the hips but usually from a sitting position (especially if I am on the floor getting up or in a low chair or sometimes even going up or down stairs). I always thought it was from the back injury I got about 5 years ago but now you've got me wondering. I think I'll ask my doc about it next time I go. My mother - in - law was on it for a while but had to get off when she developed such terrible pain in her arms from it. She couldnt even lift her arms to brush her hair without being in excruciating pain. Hope this helps but I think it is a very individualistic medicine that affects everyone differently. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/shrug.gif

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wavey.gif Hi leah i have been taking lipitor for 2 years now i do get a lot of joint pains but never associated it with lipitor.Whenever i have needed atibiotics i get bad chest pains now my doc tells me to have a break from lipitor while i am on antibiotics as he says when the 2 mix together it causes chest pain. Hope you are still improving take care.

i've been on it for years, yes i have arm, leg, hip, and back problems.
when i started it i was on 100 mg. predisone a day, so we just
thought it was from steriods, and lupus.
i have been reading all the side affects lately, and intend to talk to
my GP about changing it.

forgot muscle weekness.
dr's tend to blame everything on lupus.

Did you check the drug digest site for possible side effects? also you can do drug interactions on the same site.

Thank you for all the answers. I had never heard of drugdigest.org but will check it out. My hip pain ist still slowly getting better so I REALLY think it was the lipitor.. i do have an order for hip x-rays though so we will see what comes of those.
