Hello (((((((((((Friends)))))))))))),
Just wanted to let you know what's been going on since my awful weekend. Thank you all again for your assurances and kindness.
I saw my rheumo on Monday and he says the spine pain is from Fibormyalgia, and that FM can cause bladder problems. He made me feel mentally somewhat better and Rxed me Cymbalta for my blues and pains. I wish he had performed a 24 hour urine to look for nephritis, but I didn't know enough about it to ask him at the time. He did a urine sample on MOnday and I've not heard anything so I assume all is ok. He is an arthritis/allergy specialist NOT a lupologist. I'm formulating a plan to see a lupologist, but have to convince my GP to write the referral.
I saw my OBGYN Monday afternoon and told him the entire story of my high BP/migraine ER incidnet (240/120) and my bladder thing and my out of the blue mood changes and sweating. He asked if I had been checked for a pheochromocytoma (adrenal gland tumor that can cause muscle pain and eratic BP, sweating etc.). I nearly fell over when he said it b/c my rhemo had written a letter to my endo 6 months ago posing that as a cause of my problems. The endo poopooed it, but today I talked with her and she is now going to do a 24 hour urine to check for excessive hormones in my urine.
I feel better today, but I am scared to eat too much protein. I have NO idea if that is the cause of it, but slowly the better I feel the more protein I will have.
I looked back over my records (I've been sick for several years, but only this past year have I considered a connection). In July 2003 I had a very nasty UTI that the doctor failed to treat for a month. When the UTI had been successfully treated (after a nasty turn with septra--I was SO sick after one dose), the doc did another urinanalysis to make sure the UTI was gone. My labs showed no bacteria but abnormal Blood at 2+ and URBC 0-4. The doctor never did anything to investigate these findings. Does that sound right to you? Occasionally over the past 2 years I've had trace protein, blood, WBC too. No study has ever been done on my kidneys. Do you think I'm over analysing or could the event in 2003 have some meaning? I wonder if my kidneys were damaged b/c I had a UTI for over one month before treatment?
Thank you for reading and sharing any insight into my UTI history.
Love and blessings to you all and may you all have many days of balance,
