Low C4 and High protein levels in Urine...Could someone please explain abit more about this. My ESR is normal Range last week, CRP Normal, but Very Low C4 levels and High amounts of protein in my urine past few weeks. G.P has asked me to see him thisThursday and have more bloods taken and re-test Urine. Have a Fabulous G.P, who even rings me at home and explains the results and what Action we both think should be done. G.P raised My Steriods as I am covered Everywhere in Lupus HIVES (I get them every summer since age 13..I am now 44.)and My joints are killing me... Anyone here able to explain the LOW C4 Levels AND PROTEIN..what does it mean.???

Hi Sheila

Sounds like you have a brilliant GP alright. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/highfive.gif to him!

Low C3 and C4 complement levels in people with Lupus may signify an increase in disease activity and with the protein levels in your urine being high your GP is probably concerned about the possibility of kidney involvement.

Its a very good idea to get more bloods done and re-test the urine to monitor this development so that you can treatment if this is the case.

Let us know how you get on....

Hi, Sheila! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
Joan has given you good information. I've got nothing to add there.

It does sound like you've got a great doc! You should be hanging on to that one, for sure!

Gentle hugs for your achey body! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hugbetter.gif

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Thanx.gif Girls. I post as soon as I seen my G.P and get the rest of the results back.
Lupus had been doing o.kish, until the Rheum's assitant decided it be a great idea to reduce my steriods under 10mg. I did tell Him, I go into flare, if you do I always do under 1Omg, probably because my body has got used to being on steriods full time last 17 years. But they THINK they know best. G.P had to put be back up to 20mg for time being
