Does anyone know if blood and urine osmolarity tests might show lupus nephritis? I've been to yet ANOTHER specialist today, an endo, and shared my sporadic excess urination symptoms and high bp/migraine and 6 week illness and she has ordered these two tests. I am praying that it will show something is up with me ... but again, this could be another test that shows nothing. Anyone know?

Thanks and blessings of wellness upon us all.

Hi penny,

It seems it might get you some answers on the frequent urination at least. It can be helpful for determining the cause of that.

I believe from what I read that it can also help diagnose problems with kidneys due to diabetes etc. So there are several things it could uncover.

Good luck with you results and let us know how you get along. Often they have to do a lot of ruling out of causes unfortunately, before they get to the real reason you are having these problems. It can be a pain in the posterior style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif but well worth it in the longrun to get the right diagnosis.

Hi, Penny! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
I can't add anything to what Lily has said. She has provided some great links, too. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

I just want to let you know that I understand what it can be like to wait for test results and be concerned that the cause of problems will not be found for an even longer time. Waiting can be so frustrating and tiring!

I'm sending a gentle hug your way: style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hugbetter.gif Every little ounce of caring helps, I think!

hello Penny,
what a coincidence, I went to the hospital too yesterday & they ordered the same tests, so I (as usual) spent ages finding out about it because I wasnt sure why they were being done. I found this site to be quite useful

http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/an...ity/glance.html (http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/osmolality/glance.html)

I have had some other abnormal blood tests which is what has raised the query.

I hope we can keep in touch with each others results. Good luck with yours.
