Hi all

I posted to introduce myself a few weeks ago. Thank you again for all your messages of support.

I had my appointment yesterday with the surgical consultant, who has been investigating the leg swelling.

Was feeling quite positive until he told me that my ANA levels were elevated as well as some of the other levels :worried:

Am now waiting for an appointment to come through with a rheumatologist.

Relieved in one way and still hoping that it may come to nothing but also worried about what the future holds.

I'm struggling to keep myself in check - I'm constantly questioning whether every symptom I feel is 'real' but there is no doubting the ache in my arm and leg at the minute  My skin also looks red and feels 'hot' - I haven't been outside much at all today so it may just be the effects of the current heat wave

Anyway thanks for 'listening' - am sure I will have loads more questions to ask

Hi twinmom,

I'm glad you will have an appointment with a Rheumy, this certainly does need investigating further. It's really hard waiting and wondering, but better to know than go along blissfully unaware only to have a rude shock later down the track.

Our treatments are good if it does turn out to be Lupus and your quality of life should improve greatly on what it has been. I know its hard but one day at a time is the best way to tackle this.............let us know when your appt is and in the meantime you know where to find us, dont hesitate to post if something is on your mind or you just want someone to talk to about it all :)

sending hugs,

love
Lily

Hi Twinmom:)

Its good that this stuff is being investigated properly but of course I understand your worries. Are you keeping a written record of your symptoms? If not, start a diary now. This will be very helpful at your appointment. Leave nothing out. Many symptoms can seem unrelated but in fact can be very helpful when making the right diagnosis. Dont be worried about whether or not its 'linked'. Your rheumatologist can be the judge of that.

Also it can be a good idea to keep a 'pain scale' record. Rank the pain you are in on a scale from 1-10. Its all very useful information for your rheumy and it will empower you to get a better 'handle' on what is going on in your body.

Best of luck and post again with any questions.

Luv n stuff
Joan:)
