Since I am still proving myself to be astoundingly stupid - resisting taking the meds a bit - I happened to mention it to my oldest friend. Tom and I met in *kindergarten* and although we live a few thousand kilometres apart are still friends. I mentioned the trouble I was having with the painkillers' use and he wrote:
If I waited till i felt my blood pressure go up before I took my Diltiazem there would be no point. You're right, it's tough to take medication when you feel well but if you take it and feel better then it's doing it's job. People need different types of assistance. Some are emotional ( spiritual ) some are physical some are chemical. So just take the dumb pills and feel better.
Makes sense. Now to do it.

(((((((((((Douglas)))))))))))))))

I swear you are just like me. No doubt about it.

I am the same way. People have to keep reminding me.

I just stopped the pain med two days ago. Let's see.

But your friends words are wise and yes, we just need to do it.

Hi Douglas,

Your friend is right. The only way to break the pain cycle is to take the pain meds consistently. Remember that quality of life is important. This is not only for you, but the others around you also.

Take care,
Lazylegs
