--------------------------------------------------------------
Anti-Nuclear Ab by IFA,IgG-- 1:80 f
Normal: <1:40
(says if it's 1:80 or less they are not concerned)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Immunoglobulin D-- <0.2 f
normal range: 1.0-7.4mg/dl
---------------------------------------------------------------
Left Shift-- Present A
normal: Absent
---------------------------------------------------------------
Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Phenotype: 38 L
normal range: 76-190mg/dl

Thanks if you know any of these.
Also she will be 3 next month.
She still gets the fevers and has the malar rash.
Thanks

I'm sorry C but I have no idea about these tests except what I can look up on google. But every test result only has significance when taken into account with other results and symptoms. Maybe somebody else will be more clued up
I am sorry your daughter's still so unwell.
Here's to better days

Im a bit stumped as well and like Clare says the test results are usually 'read' as a whole if you know what I mean.
In any event here is a link to understanding lab results. Its a bit of a trawl to go through all of it but it might help a bit

I know I had a "left shift" identified once and it was explained to me that the body was so busy/fast/furiously fighting off an infection (in my case viral) that it spews out the defensive white blood cells too fast so they are actually immature. When they see an inordinate amount of immature white blood cells then it is called a "left shift".
The ANA is known to be positive for brief periods of time after viral and bacterial infections, and even for short periods of time following immunizations. This is why most doctors are not concerned about a positive ANA at a level below 1:160, especially in the absence of other signs of autoimmune illness. There are some good articles out there reporting some surprisingly high percentages of people that are "healthy" with positive ANA rates up to 1:160 even!
Here is a good link on the enzyme deficiency your daughter seems to have:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Handbook_of_Genetic_Counseling/Alpha_1_Antitrypsin_Deficiency#What_is_Alpha_1_Ant itrypsin_Deficiency_.28ATT_deficiency.29.3F
The D deficiency is probably not something serious; at least not in the absence of other immune deficits and young children are most likely to test low on this factor. Link:
http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic1160.htm
I hope the doctors can explain each test, and it's result, and what it means specifically for your daughter whenever you can see them again.
Good luck...

The only reason I am concerned about lupus and the other tests is because she has Celiac Disease and is more prone to other autoimmune disorders and her symptoms she still has. The only thing I can think of why the Immunoglobulin D is low is often she will spike a fever up to 103 but will last only 1 day. She has done that twice since Oct. 9th
Her rheumy is also think of Periodic fever because she has fevers every 3-9 weeks like clockwork since she turned 2 it has been more like 6-9 weeks. But she follows up with her in Dec. My older daughter ahs an appt with the ped on tuesday I will probably bring the results in and have him explain them to me.
Thanks for the help.

I heard back from the rheumy. She said her ANA is slightly positive. And over 5% of patients with a + don't even have autoimmune disorders. But I then asked if she can explain what all her other symptoms that seemed like lupus symptoms. But we will see what she says. And the immunoglobulin they said it is ok to be low in kids with periodic fevers but I also asked if they tested for it or if she did. And the alpha 1 I guess was norm in june so she isn't concerned about that. So hopefully her next email will be a little more clear to me.
I'll keep you posted.
Thanks

C,
I am sorry to hear that you are going through this difficult time with your daughter. We have this in common. My daughter is three and we are off to the doctors today to begin the process. For you daughter and mine, I am praying that Lupus can be ruled out. I know it must be very frightening to have the ANA come back positive.
Please keep us informed as you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

How did the Doctors go? Her ped refered her to an orthopedic dr because he said there is a significant difference in the length of her legs and that is probably why she has accassional hip pain. But the rheumy emailed me back and when she gets another fever she wants her to have the same tests again. She said she will mail me the lab order. Hopefully I can just take her to the lab near my house.
I hope things went well.

C,
The doctors appointment went well. The doctor agreed that there are enough symptoms that she needed to be tested.
We did the lab work yesterday as well. The tests they are running are the ANA, something to check for inflammation, and I did not understand what the other test would be:unsure:
The doctor said that if any one of the three comes back positive, then we will be sent to a rheumy.
I am a little nervous, but I am just praying and hoping that all three will come back negative.
How long does it usually take before the results of the tests are known? They did not tell me whether they would call me or if I should call them (I forgot to ask this question).
I am keeping your family and others in my thoughts and prayers,
Ruthy
