Hi All,

I have a stupid question.

I thought the lovely malar rash only came about when exposed to the sun. We haven't had any sun, just rain and snow, and I've woken up with a Malar rash this morning. I hate these malar rashes, goes so nicely with my prednisone face.

Feeling pretty low that I can't seem to get myself stabalized, and I know it sounds very vain, but to add a huge screaming symptom for everyone to see just makes me feel that much lower.

And I sure as heck hope it doesn't mean I'm entering into another flare, I'm not yet out of this one.

Karin I sadly suffer badly from the Malar rash and have it all year 24/7, its worse in the summer though. I also get severe Lupus Hives, all over body. Its Nov and they only just starting to go, they come back by Feb each year

Hugs to you

Hi,

If I get sun exposure it always is much more noticeable, but its often there to a mild degree all the time. It can flare up anytime, but usually if its not from the sun then it means I'm not feeling at my best and a flare is imminent. Sometimes that might be a short flare though for a few days..........so hang on to that thought!

Karin, I have a facial rash that can be seen from space! The plaquenil helps and so do topical creams. The best thing you can do is look for the best cover make up you can find. It can be applied over sun screen, which we should use all year round apparently. Don't worry too much about it though. My friends no longer see my rash and can't understand why I get ratty over it. They simply don't see it.:)
Be well.

Thanks all,

I suppose there really aren't any concrete rules of thumb with this disease. I've been an absolute emotional mess this past few days, and I'm guessing that my rash is the beginning of another flare.

Be well,

Karin
