Hi my name is wayne , and i was just diagonesed, wenesday, this is not good , i am a cancer patient (prostate-terminal GOOD FOR YOUR CHECK UPS), i have beenbattling my disease for 5 years when i was given 90 days, good days and bad ones but i try and make the best of it . But this new one has me scared and i don't know what to expect- so any insight would be great. i have posts on the ladies site if you care to look, they sent me in this direction , :)
Welcome Wayne,
First I want to say that Lupus is something you've had all along and that it's treatable (so you can relax on that part). Like cancer, it isn't curable yet but I am hopeful that one day both will be. It may have just surfaced for you as it does with many after major physical trauma. Women often are often diagnosed after bearing children or a major surgery. Sometimes the type of surgery itself helps in finding Lupus (ie, hysterectomy at an early age). For me it was 10 years of heart problems along with other symptoms.
You shouldn't be scared by Lupus and once you learn what it is, a lot things will make sense to you. Take the time to read the info on this sites main page: http://www.uklupus.co.uk/
It should answer most of your questions. For those it doesn't, you can post them here on the forum. It helps if you post what meds you are taking because we can spot some potential problems that way. We are not doctors but have a lot of experience with quite a few medications here.
I can't help but admire the strength that we have fighting this stuff. I'm very happy to hear your fight with cancer is going well. Take care :)

Wayne you are realy going through the ringer at the moment, and I am so sorry for what you have had to endure. Tom is a lot more knowlegable than me when it comes to Lupus, but he is right that there is normally a trigger all though not always. I really hope you gain some knowledge with access to this site, and i am sure you find plenty of lovely people are willing to give you support, even if it is just to have a chat in the chat room or to let a bit of steam off through a post. AS far as natural remedies I have no doubt there are some as i did look into them sometime ago but they were way out of my financial range and I have forgotten there names. Plus any natural remedies should also be checked with what you are already taking with your doctor or pharmacist as they can react with each other. Especially with your cancer drugs.
Wayne I am so glad you found this site and look forward to chatting with you further.
Best wishes
Steve
