Anemia - B12 deficiency

I was wondering how common this is amongest us Lupies. ??? I was dx with it 2 years ago, after many years complaining many Symptoms, which can also be found in the link below.

A new G.P (who listens) and a simple blood test, comfirmed I had B12 problems, in my case caused by Pernicious anemia (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000569.htm) <<<<<clickable link ) I now have injections every 12 weeks, which has helped so much.

I too have this problem. My Rheumy did a blood test about one year ago after many symptoms including severe fatigue, increased pain and costrochondritis (?) (inflammation of the chest wall), severe Lupus fog. He said my body was attacking the B12 and B12 deficiency can cause many symptoms. If gone untreated it can be very serious.

I started the first month with weekly injections and now go monthly. I don't feel any surge of improvement when I get the injection but if I miss one or wait too long the symptoms will return.

Just another fun attack by our disease!

thank you for this information it has been very usefull for me i have most of the symtems and have been ill for a month now rumi not much good just wanted to inject steroids then my doc did blood test and my iron was very low she has put me on iron tablets still got pain in chest no appertite at all tingling in my arms going to mention this when i go back to docs this week

I have B12 deficiency which my haematologist thinks is pernicious anaemia (can't have a schilling test as they have run out of radioactive B12). It is obviously another autoimmune thing but my rheumatologist says there is no reported connection with any other specific autoimmune diseases. Ironically mine was picked up on routine tests and I hadn't even noticed. I don't really notice any difference before or after my injections either. I think it is part of a spectrum. When you have autoimmune problems you can have many autoimmune problems.
