I have had night sweats for the past 6 months. I talked to my rheumi and she did lab work and I did not have an infection. I talked to my dr.and I have adrenal gland insuffieincey due to being on long term pred, ANyway he had me increase pred and it got better so I went back to normal dose. I have had them but not that bad. THese past 2 weeks I have been in a flare and I woke up last night soaked from the night sweat. I checked my temp this everning and i have one a slight one but for me it is one as I never run a fever. On THrusday, I had lab work done again but an infection did not show up. I am on antibiotics and a pred dose pack as I have been sick with a sinuis infect I think. I have not been getting that much better and my throat has been in agony so I am wordering if it is just a virus. THe night sweats are really bothering me though. Does anyone else have them? I am not one to sweat at all so this is unusual for me.
Thanks,

Hi Lupie98,
I go through stages where I have night sweats (in fact I started having them again last week). My rheumy says it is a symptom of lupus.

I get drenching night sweats periodically. Last night I had one after about a 3 month reprieve. I asked my Rhuemie about it before, and she says it is caused by the lupus. All I know is, it is icky, I don't like it, and I wish it would stop. I have them happen more when I have another virus or infection which seems to aggravate my immune system and the lupus. Right now I have no virus or infection, so it is solely the lupus.

I get them too, and I had them much worse before dx and before plaquenil, although I still get them but not as frequent.
I hope yours resolve quickly, sorry you're sick with a sinus infection. ugh

I get them at the start of a Flare-Up...severe. I wake up and have to change my night gown, and also the side of the bed I sleep on. ....My hair is drenched, my night gown soaked, the bed is wet....I shiver yet I am hot....by the time morning comes, I look like I been running a marathon all night with sweat and exhaustion from not sleeping....:dog:

Hi Lupie98,
Yes I always get the night sweats, my rheumy has said it's down to the lupus. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning it feels like I have been laying in the bath all night.

hi there,
Yes I get night sweats every single night!!!
I have had them for years.
I have got used to them and do little tricks to help, I have a very thin duvet, have the window wide open, dont wear any night clothes, hubby is in the guest room!!!!! Then when i get really hot I can go over the other side of the bed which is a bit cooler. I have a chillow pillow (which even that I manage to hot it up) and dont have the duvet on half the night!!!
I have tried everything to help but when my hubby comes into my room in the mornings he says "oh my goodness its like a morgue in here", even so I am still really really hot.
I stay hot all morning then seem to cool later on in the day!!Then in the evenings i start to hot up again!!
So thats me for you hope this help???

See i get night sweats but only when I'm going through a really bad flare and it gets so bad that all i can do is take an ice cold shower and lay down with a cold washcloth on my head and the next day my butterfly rash will be in full effect, so i know for sure mines caused by the lupus.
