View Full Version : Okay, I think I'm all set for 1st Rheumy appt. tomorrow!

I wrote out my list of symptoms, current medications and concerns, and typed them out because my handwriting stinks.
I think I'm ready...the appt is at 3pm, and I'm supposed to get there 10 minutes early. They left a message on my machine, saying I should bring my current test results and medical records with me, but I don't have them.
My horrible PCP was supposed to mail them to me, but they haven't got here yet. I called there twice asking them if they faxed the info to the rheumy, and they haven't called back. That's the only thing I couldn't get done.
I'm very nervous.
I hope it goes okay...I've had nothing but bad experiences with doctors...I hope I don't come home tomorrow in tears. But either way, I'll just be glad when it's over.
:worried:

Good luck at your Dr. appt. I know how you feel about being nervous to see a new doctor. I'm sure you have waited for this appt and you are hoping for some answers. I hope for you that this new Dr. will help you find answers.

I know in my experience it is really helpful for the new Dr. to have previous records. How close is your PCP? Since your appt is in the p.m. can you pick up your records from your PCP yourself? If your PCP is not local you may need to have the new doctor call to have your records faxed. It's not the end of the world, I would just give yourself the best shot at help.

Good luck to you and let us know how it goes!

The pcp is in another town, not on the way...also, I won't have time to go there in person...afternoon is actually like morning for me. I usually wake up around 4pm so this is going to be early for me as it is.
And they won't give me my records in person either...I was there in person to request them on the 1st of this month and they said they would mail them to me, and I still haven't gotten them yet.
That's when I started to call and asked them to fax my records over to the rheumy, but they can't get it together to tell me whether they did or not.
(this is why I made an appt. to try to get a new pcp...mine is horrible)

I'll just have to tell the rheumy what's happening...I was really hoping she would do all the tests over again anyway because I don't trust the results from that clinic anyway.
Nobody there could find their butt with both hands.

Good luck Sapph, let us know how it went.

Mooks if you can get a hold of the positive ANA one at least I think that would be helpful, they can give you a copy and you can take it along the day you see the Rheumy. Its good if they can have all relevant information in front of them on your first visit, even though they will still do their own testing anyway. And in a way its helpful to for them to even have the negative finding, at least they know what your other docs have tested for then and it helps narrow down (or broaden) their search.
