when you say meat and potatoes you remind me of my brother who would eat nothing else. well mom decided to fix that, when you are boiling your potatoes put a few carrots or turnip in the pot, with a bit of garlic, when ready mash them altogether with a bit of milk and butter and you won't know there are veggies in there Unless you peak :rotfl:

everyone loves ice cream? make a milk shake and put in fruit , you must like milk shakes? put fruit in your pancakes, buy frozen fruit and keep it in the frezzer, and just add to what you want. or not want :) make a banana split, and different kinds of fruit, with lots of syrup on top. the sugar is not good for you but the fruit is

you really need to eat properly like your mother said( well if she didn't, this grandmother says so :hehe:
eat pie with fruit, buy dry fruit it taste like candies, be inventive, think of it as a experiment , to find all the ways you can do it without a tasting it, it will be your challenge for 2007 , I dare you to try :rotfl: and then let us know of all the good recipes you invented
and if you really what to go to town add wheat germ or flax seed to the milkshake :wink2:

after reading clare's comment, I should also add ,talk to your doctor or a dietician before you try any of my wacky ideas. I am no a dietician . I just have a love for food

Hello Wayne

You need to keep up your calorific intake but not exceed what's right for your energy expenditure. If you really never eat any fruit or veg in any form, not even dried fruits, you might well need some vitamin supplements expecially Vitamin C. Ideally a dietician could best advise.

Cheers

Clare

Wayne,

My family is also a meat and potato kind of gang. Luckily though, they do like fruits and veggies, although not all of them. So being the wonderful mom that I am:lol: , I do make them eat things they don't like, but we do make a compromise. I get the fruit dip at the store and let them dip away. For those veggies that make their noses turn up, yup, you guessed it, I do get the veggie dip. While the dips may not be the healthiest food product for them, but at least they are eatting their brussel sprouts!

Hey Wayne,

Chicken is meat, and potatoes can be mashed or baked (at least 1/2 the calories of burger and fries or steak). Be creative in the kitchen! It's amaizing how good low cal stuff can be. I love goats ideas, I'm drooling just reading them! :p

Clare is right, it's really all about regulating calories in and calories burned. Sadly most of us don't burn as many calories as we enjoy eating.
Oh that fruity milk shake, drool drool. :hehe:

Don't forget the chocolate though! I keep hearing more studies telling about how many benifits there are in dark chocolate, like duh!

oh Wayne you started me thinking, this might not be good
what about a spaghetti, it has tomatoes in it :) and add carrots, green pepper
sloppy joes and fries ( tomato)
blue berry turn overs
what about breakfast? add fruit to your cereal
shepherds pie has potatoe and corn, add peas also
okay enough from me
have fun

Hi Wayne:)

A great way of getting veggies into you is to make a big pot of vegetable soup. Just throw any kind of veggies in there! I usually put in carrots, turnip, parnsips, celery, leeks, onions and broccoli but really the list is endless! In my local store you can buy the pre-diced packs so preparation is very easy for us lazy ones!:hehe:

I add a few dried herbs and a vegetable stock cube. Boil the heck outta them and then mix it all up with my electric hand blender, whisk thingy.....

Its absolutely gorgeous by the way! My six year old (who thinks he deserves a trophy every time he manages to eat a piece of broccoli!) loves it. I just tell him its called winter soup (if I mentioned the word veggies he would immediately not like it!:hehe: )

Oh yes, and the great thing about it is that you only have to make it maybe once a week in a bit pot because as soon as it is cooled down, decant it into various containers (or freezer bags) and freeze it and then you can have a bowlful every day....

For added calories ( ) and an extra bit of splurge, swirl some cream over the top just before serving. (Dont tell anyone I said that ok?)

Have fun!

Joan
