Hi Sunset:)

Welcome to the Forum!

I wonder could it be Tempormandibular joint disorder (TMJ)? It can be caused by a number of rheumatic and arthritic conditions. You should mention it to your doctor or dentist. Here is a site which you might find useful. Have a look and see if any of it rings any bells.

I hope you get some relief from it because I know it can be very painful :hugbetter:

Welcome to the Forum again and I look forward to hearing more from you

Luv n stuff

Hi sunsetgirl,

I guess you might get a lot of different answers to this.

I've been to the dentist recently so I know there is no problem with my teeth or gums right now. Thats something to consider.

But there are also things that affect the nerves in that area, I think its called trigeminal neuralgia so it could be something like that or a cranial nerve playing up. Best to check with your doc and have it investigated if it persists.

I've had it recently, but then I think it might be referred pain, its on my upper mouth the pain originates and I think because the weather has been changing so much I have a touch of sinusitis. But there are other occassions where its the lower jaw which would be more consistent with something like trigeminal neuralgia. If mine continues I'm going to ask the doc about it because it does limit my chewing ability and it hurts a lot!

love
Lily

Hi Sunsetgirl,
Its funny you should ask that question. I just came from my rheumies office this morning with a left ear complaint. He checked it and said there wasn't any swelling or obstruction or glandular problem, but he couldn't tell me what it was.
After reviewing Joandulin's web site that she posted as assistance to this problem, i have decided i have arthritis of the jaw.
Plan and simple.. Just something else on my body that hurts.
NEXT!! :):)
