Hi all just thought i would write this.....

Just got back from yet another visit to the poor old GP and hes now at a total loss as to what to do with me.

He explained that i have wide spread inflamation which is especially bad in my shoulder and neck. This is what is causing the head pain and a small sore lump on the back of my head. He is concerned i am going to get a frozen shoulder, so have to keep moving it!

He looked through my file and explained that i will probably have to wait for the imuran to kick in and that there is not alot he can do. I told him about my lack of sleep so has prescribed amptryoline(sorry cant spell) i have tried it before but a long time ago so here goes!!!:hehe:

You have to slow down and try to rest he said lol, not possible at moment!!!:rotfl:

Well if i can get some proper sleep i'm sure i'll start to be able to cope better!

Thanks for reading!!!
;)
Take care all

Netty, I really hope that you get some prorper sleep soon, lack of it does make everything else so much more harder to deal with. I hope that the imuran strats to kick in too as well soon, (((Netty))) Oh and praps if he sugessted that you should try to slow don and rest you really should try to do just that! I know sometimes its just not that easy but I think it does help especialy when you are waiting for new medication to start to work.

:( Netty, sorry about the hurt that you're going thru right now. Amytrip[talyne (elavil) is a very good drug. I have been on it for about 15 yrs. I think it is a very safe drug and has very little , if any, side effects. The trick is to find your right amount of doseage. On me, he couldnt find the right amount, one was too little, the next was too much--I drove off the
highway, so what he did was RX me the lesser one and then add Restoril
to it. I have slept like a baby since. I wish you luck and hope you get the right dose the very first time. Let me know.:p

Netty I am on amptripyline and it has helped. I take between 25mg to 50mg a night. Hope it helps with your sleeping. Nothing worse than not being able to rest properly.

I take provigil for daytime to stay awake and I can take ambien at night to sleep if needed. I know when I do not sleep well, I feel it all over. Then that night I take an ambien and feel better usually the next day. REST....we all need it.

Thanks again all for replying to my post.

Well heres an update. The new drug amitripyline was working to some extent and i was able to get a couple of hrs solid sleep. Then Yesterday got up feeling okish and went to work. Cant say it was a bad day but you know me i gotta push myself and decided to tidy up the place. Well at about 10am bang, my energy vanished and pain began to increase. one of my staff (she sooo good) to one look at me and told me to sit down AWWWwwww. "I will, i will"i said just gotta finish this. Boy i wish i had listened.
Well i had to stay for a planning meeting then i was taken home!

Took my temp it was 39.2:eek: took some meds and attempted to sleep.
Well i've had a fitful soaked filled night but temp is down but today my close friend is the loo!

Unfortunatly i think its the amitripyline but will wait to see docs on tues when i have bloods taken. Oh back hips and knees really hurt as well now!!:(

What ever next??????????

thanks all for lisening to me moan again!!

Hi Netty
I'm sorry you are having so many problems recently. Side effects of amitryptiline ( Elavil) can include diarrhea and fevers, 'hyperpyrexia', according to the side effects list.
I didn't have any problems like that with Imuran and haven't seen mention of them here.
Wishing you better luck and better health soon - maybe if it is the Elavil these are just temporary and will go with time, but you need to let your doctor know.

I don't know quite what your GP means by widespread inflammation. Lupus & Co are inflammatory diseases because inflammation is caused by autoimmune disease activity which is why anti inflammatories are often used to treat it.

Fibro is not an inflammatory disease. Of course there can be localised inflammation too with lupus.

Hugs

Clare

The doctor i saw this time is new to the practise and actually asked if i had any ideas on how he could help me.......doh!
i will stop this drug and see how i go.

Well went to docs today to find out whats been causing me to feel yuck!
Same Doc as last time, hes not sure about anything. I say" look if its to do with the imuram i'll give it a while to see if it all goes away!"
He looks at me sees the sweat running down my face and takes my bp. "Ummmmm!" he says. Its 168/119, i have to stand up and he takes it again, this time its 145/80. He says nothing. Then sends me to do a wee sample that seems fine but hes gonna send it away just to be sure. He gives me a really good check and instructs the nurse to complete my blood tests early. I have gotta go back tommorrow! But i have to stop the imuran until they can rule it out!!!!

"NO!" i say, please, just to be safe he says. I hope its ok, i really do!

Thanks for reading, feeling a wee bit crazy as you can tell from my writing!

I'll keep you informed!
