Help!!!!!!questions About Knee Pain

WELL, I WENT TO THE ORTHOPEDIC DR LAST TUESDAY BECAUSE MY KNEE WAS VERY SWOLLEN AND PAINFUL AT FIRST HE SAID IT WAS A TORN HAMSTRING AND IF IT DIDNT GET BETTER HE WOULD PUT ME ON ORAL STERIODS, THIS ****** ME OFF, BECAUSE HE KNOWS I HAVE SLE AND HAVE BEEN ON ORAL STERIODS FOR 5 YEARS, SO HE ORDERS AN MRI. I HAD TO WAIT A WEEK TO SEE HIM AGAIN AND GET THE RESULTS AND STAY IN PAIN. I GO IN TODAY AND HE SAID THE MRI SHOWED MUSCLE STRAIN OF THE GASTROCNEMIUS WHEN I LOOKED THIS UP IT SAID IT IS THE SAME AS A TORN MUSCLE, A MODERATE EFFUSION, AND A RUPTURED POPLITEAL CYST HE SAID THERE IS NOTHING TO DO COME BACK IN 3 WEEKS. WHEN I READ UP ON THIS IT DOES NOT SAY TO DO NOTHING. MAYBE I SHOULD GO SEE A SPORTS MEDICINE DOCTOR, I DONT KNOW. IF HE LEAVES THE FLUID CANT IT CAUSE ANOTHER CYST? I AM SO AGGREVATED!!!!!! I READ THAT LUPUS CAN CAUSE POPLITEAL CYST. HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED ANY OF THIS BEFORE? ANY REPLIES WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. OH HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!!!!!!:wink2:

Hi merryooch,

Thats sounds very painful :sad: :hugbetter: I cant say I've faced a similar problem but it stands to reason that if we have a connective tissue disease that at least the muscle tearing may happen more regularly to people like us. Does the Ortho know you have Lupus? Sometimes thats sheds a whole new light on things for them, and often they dont ask so if we dont tell them they dont 'get it'.

I hope someone else comes along who has had a similar problem and can help out with your concerns. Take care,

sorry to hear what you are going through, it sounds soooo painful you poor thing:( sorry to say though, i cannot help or advise you in regard to this, just wanted to wish you well, and to say i hope it gets better for you soon, no doubt other members will be able to help you about this:) so in the meantime honey
