Hi All, I have a new symptom that is kind of worrying to me and that is one leg aches all night long. It rarely hurts during the day when I'm up tho. When this started I was feeling heat in that leg but that's stopped now. I've checked and it isn't a different colour than the other one. I hate going to the Dr. and having expensive tests run when it turns out to be nothing. I don't have a diagnosis of lupus but have many symptoms and a positive ana.
Also the rash that I've had on my chest for years has started to change and now I have several distinct circles about the size of a pencil eraser each. Does this sound like something I should show the Dr. as well. Any thoughts you might have on these matters would be greatly appreciated. I'm at the point that I don't want to go back to the Dr. if it's not necessary.
Thank you,
Hugs, Tallulah
Hi Tallulah :hugbetter:
I think because both these symptoms represent something new to you you wont be wasting the docs time :) It's important to get them checked out. I wonder if the sacroilitis has anything to do with that leg pain? Sacro problems can cause leg pain if they get bad enough?

Hi ya, like you i get many new symptoms, and i know how worrying it can be for you,,, esp when things feel really bad and uncomfortable, i think and i have found and also been told by both the gp and A/E its always best to get it checked out, just to be on the safe side, esp when something is worrying you aswell, because at the end of the day, it may be something serious that needs sorting out, or it may not be, but at the end of the day you do need to find out, and besides, otherwise you will find that you will worry even more, and then that alone can add more problems, like stress etc to things that are already happening, cos that is what i have found due to the fact that things keep changing for me aswell, and new symptoms adding on to the ones that i have already, and not only that, it will be logged and noted what you are having trouble with, and therefore help even more when trying to get things sorted out, i hope this has given you some peace of mind knowing that you are not alone in the fact that things change, and come become worrying esp when you have never had them before/
So take care, and i hope it gets sorted soon for you, and in the meantime, post and chat about it, as there are many here who will be able to help you aswell, i will keep an eye out for your postings to see how you are getting along, so bye for now ((hugs)))) londongirl,,,,, liz:)

I have had leg pain off and on for years now. It seems worse to me in the winter time. My doc rx'd quinine for me and it does seem to help. I think it would be worth menitoning to your doc because they do have meds to help and there is no reason for you to be uncomfortable. Hope that helps.
Take care

Hi, I wanted to say thank you to eveyone for your replies. I've had trouble with my computer and couldn't sign on before now. I still have the pain but now have numb toes so I'm pretty sure that it is some kind of nerve pain. I took a couple of elavil that I had in the house and voila` no pain at night. That makes me think even more that it's nerve as opposed to circulation. I'm planning a trip to the Dr.s next week and I'll see what happens. I'll let you know. Thanks again,

Hi, I went to the Dr. yesterday and he thinks it's peripherial neuropathy. Anyone else have this in their legs? He gave me a script for some elavil to take at bedtime for it. If it continues I will have to have a bone scan done. He also told me that I can take tylenol arthritis every night if I need to and, I need to. lol

Hi Tallulah,
I too have leg pain and numbness-it feels like pins and needles for me. Sometimes it goes up into my hands and feels like pins. Sometimes it is between my shoulders.
As well I am on ellavil but only half a dose, for the heart burn it produces is intollerable at night.
Currently I have two different diagnosis that it is peripheral neuropathy, one neurologist said no and did no tests, the other said yes and she did the pin test and some others. One thing that happened there was that my right leg felt the pin more than my left-it hardly bothered that one!
One thing that works faster and better than any pill is an ice pack on my ankles, just above the feet, where it will stay on better. After a few minutes, it stops the numbness and brings down the heated feeling.
I don't feel it so much in the morning, do you? Sometimes later in the day after a busy one it comes, but mostly it is when I finally get to stretch out both legs.
Hope the ice will help-it is a feeling of a small miracle to realize it's not there, although now it is more the "normal" feeling for me.
Do your hands get it also?
One med they put me on that they say will help it, over time, of course, is Cymbalta.
Best wishes for a painless moment, from Ingleby
Hi Tallulah,
Yes I have it in my feet/legs and its started in my hands/arms also. I had an MRI of my spine to rule out a problem with nerve compromise from discs or anything else structural going on. It isnt.........so they have started me on an anti-convulsant med to help with the pain and weird sensations.
I was already on anti-inflamms which helped but not enough. I was also at the stage of taking way too much codeine and tylenol which didnt seem to touch the pain. Thankfully this stuff is starting to work and has turned it down a couple of notches, we are still fine-tuning the dose, so hopefully I will see even more improvement once we get that right.
Elavil is a common drug to try first for this, along with anti-inflamms, if that doesnt help enough there are other meds like Neurontin and Lyrica to alleviate the symptoms.

Hi Ingleby, Thanks so much for your reply. I'm sorry that you are suffering with this as well. I have carpal tunnel in my hands but it's not nearly as bad as the leg. The elavil is helping somewhat, guess it just needs some time. I'm sure that the cold would feel really good but I've got terrible raynauds that I've developed in the past couple of years. The Dr. commented on how blue my feet were this time and that it was from raynauds.
I didn't know that elavil caused heartburn to worsen. I have GERD but I haven't noticed that it is worse yet. Glad you told me, I'll be on the lookout for it. Thanks again for your thoughts.
Hi Lily, I'm sorry that you have this as well. It is miserable, isn't it? I hope that the elavil is enough because my Dr. is not one to give meds easily, or to make a diagnosis, lol. I guess this symptom is just one more for the list. I also showed him that my rash on my chest has turned into circles. He just looked but didn't say anything. I hope he's recording these things.
Thanks for your reply,
Hugs, Tallulah
Hi Tallulah,
From past experience Elavil will take a maximum of 4 weeks to reach therapeutic level. You will see improvement during that time and it should certainly help a little, but I would wait and see how you feel at the 4 week mark to assess whether its working or not. If its not enough then it might be an idea to see a Neurologist, they may be able to sort out a better treatment plan.
Good luck :luck:
