I was rather upset to find most of my sig had been edited and was gone
I have re-done it with as small a font as I can find
I feel that sigs allow people to know a bit about each of us :)
I have seen other posts with edited by _ _ _ _ _ "signature exceeds limit"
Would it not be kinder to send a pm asking for members to remover
?? amout of Characters
or let people know how many characters are allowed
I have looked at a few that are much larger and have more characters and images than mine had when it was edited, some take up half a post and look rather good ....
so I'm a bit confused and need to ask
What is the limit?
I know a limit can be set in the Cpanel of most forums In order to stop members going over the standered sig space allocated but this dose and did not happen when I added my sig with no image

Everybody !
Please read the Guidelines !
The relevant section is
* Signatures:
- Do not allow your 'signature' to grow to be longer than five or six lines. If you post a brief message of a couple of lines with a 10 line signature, the signature itself appears more important than the message - which is not really the aim.
- No website links (other than personal photo sites) in signatures please.
- Any photos/pictures in your signature must be under 200x200 pixels. No more than 2 photos/pictures per signature please.
Please note too that the forum is not the place to discuss Moderators' actions and decisions, or forum guidelines and policies.
In order to ease the tremendous moderating burden, we have decided to use the Reason for Editing facility wherever possible. Members might not get a personal PM.
We are enforcing the Guidelines, what I call 'housekeeping', as and when we have the opportunity. Major issues will take priority
Please also see Joanne's recent announcement.
The continuing success of this forum is due to effective moderation and everybody's cooperation is required to support the moderators in their commitment to maintaining its excellence.
Clare for the Moderating Team
As Clare said its important to read the forum guidelines and the answers will be found there, we simply dont have the time or health to be doing what we do and sending personal messages and having dialogue about every little thing that crops up, and there are dozens of things dealt with everyday both here on the boards and in chat.
If there are any problems with a decision you should be pming the one who edited, in this case me, not leaving it for open discussion on the forum, thats not the place for it.
I notice that you have now deleted all your signature  Thats entirely up to you Aileen but for the record I had left the relevant stuff.

Hi:)
I just want to add something here as well. No one would disagree that it would be kinder to PM members (something that we have almost exclusively done in the past). Unfortunately we dont have the luxury of continuing to do this.
Moderating the site is a big responsibility and takes up a huge amount of time. I work full time in a very demanding job and on average I moderate the boards for an hour before I go to work in the mornings, a few short periods during the daytime (mostly lunch hour) and several more hours in the evening as well as spending some time in the chat room.
I am aware of at least one other major health message board that doesnt even allow members ANY contact with Moderators.....
Cheers
