well guys, i finall got some answers to my knee pain, but they weren't very friendly ones. i went to work wednesday and my knee was very painful AGAIN and swollen. i showed one of the doctors that i work for and he was amazed(like i have been limping around at work for three weeks for nothing lol) he ordered a venous doppler to check for a dvt. he told me that it is uncommon to have a poplitial (sp) cyst rupture, unless you have a dvt or lupus. well i have a horrible varicose vein on the same leg so we did the doppler just to be a 100% sure it was not a dvt. thank god it wasn't, but it showed that what the orthopedic told me was a ruptured cyst started at the back of my knee and wrapped around to the front and there was about 6cm of fluid in one spot. one of the dr i work for called the orthopedic and figured as a professional courtesy they would squeeze me in before the holiday. yeah right like that was gonna happen. he finally called me back after the dr had to leave and after 3 calls to the ortho office. he basically told me that i was crazy, there could not be that much fluid in one week, and that it was impossible for the cyst to be that large. i told him that is exactly why i was concerned. he then said even if it was, there is nothing to be done. he said dont worry no body has ever died from a ruptured popliteal cyst. can you believe it. my rheumo office is closed, but he did call me today and told me that the knee will not get better without the fluid being drained, only worse and to meet him at his office 8:30 mon am. (i love him sooo much) i can not believe how some dr can be so uncaring!!!!! sorry such a long post, my i just had to vent. hope everyone had a great holiday. take care mary
