Hiya everyone

How are you all doing??? I've been really ill over the last 2 weeks , had a real bad cold and like flu symptoms wasn't able to move for 4 days!, but now i've been coughing up blood!!

I haven't had a bad cough to say that it's my throat that's bleeding, i went to the doctor as i was gasping for air, they've slapped me on a course of antibiotics and sent me for a chest xray! xx

Oh Donna it is very scary and horrible, but I would think the blood is from an infection; the xray would be purely precautionary. I want you to know this also happened to me last year when I had a severe bout of flu, I also had an xray and it showed up pneumonia. I had to spend a few days in hospital and some antibiotics but came out of it fine.

Hopefully your infection can be cleared up just with antibiotics

Sending you warm healing thoughts

Donna Marie,

I'm no doctor, but I would think if you're coughing up blood you need to be seen by a health professional. Please don't waste time seeing someone. As Teri always says, "better safe than sorry"!

Take care of yourself and let us know how you get on.

Love, Pollyanna :there:

I hope that they are doing an on the spot xray and results immediately.

It all depends on the amount of blood. If it is in with flem than more than likely infection. I am assuming they listened to your lungs, etc. while there.

I hope that things improve, but if you see them going downhill, go to the ER and don't bother with the docs. Better safe than sorry.

Sending warm get well wishes your way.

Since coughing up blood is not a normal thing, then you did right in seeking medical attention. Hopefully they can get you on the proper course of antibiotics, etc and get this illness taken care of before it gets worse and of course before the holidays.

One thing people should be aware of is, like I said, coughing up blood is not normal and should be checked out, especially if you are on blood thinners. While coughing so hard and for a long period of time, could rupture a blood vessel, blood in your sputum could also be a clue to other things that are very serious.
