Hi all,
I have all these lumps along the top of my shin bones. Some are visible & they are more prominent on my left shin. They are lumps right under the skin & vary somewhat in size. I asked my primary doc about it & she said I should definitely show the rheumy about it. And she also said "he may have to re-diagnose you", which makes me think this may a symptom of some other connective disease. Do any of you have this symptom? Is it part of your Lupus or something else?

Good question. I checked out my legs, and yeah, I suppose I have a few bumps, never really thought about it though. Definately talk to your rheumy and see what he has to say and let us know. I am interested in what he thinks.

I have a couple which apparently are a form of varicose veins! Sounds like you have quite a few more though, and they must not be anything too obvious if your GP doesn't want to pinpoint a cause for you.... It must be frustrating to be left waiting and wondering about this until you can see your rheumy.

Hi Sharon!
I have very bumpy shins, too...all the way from near the ankle to near the knee. My right shin used to be more bumpy than the left, but they have equalized over the last few months.
The best way I can think of to describe how they are is to say it seems something gnawed on the bones, leaving very uneven edges toward the outside of my legs.
I've never thought much of it, so I'll be very interested to know what your doctor has to say.

Hey Sharon! I've never given it much thought before, but I too have very bumpy shins all the way down to my ankles, but they aren't visible (but I can feel them:wink2: It kind of feels like my legs have a spine:eek: ) I wonder what this means...? Hopefully you will get some aswers from your rheumy:) Good luck and take care:p

I do as well, but I always thought it was because I used to racewalk, and I'd get terrible shin splints. Maybe it has something to do with calcium levels. Well I hope you find out soon!
Just read online that lumpy bumps especially along the shin are a symptom of sarcoidosis. Maybe this is what your doctor was thinking when he wanted you to be sure to point it out to your rheumy at your next visit...
