Hi Enrico,

There are also blood test's for kidney problem's, but urine test's are a very good way of finding out if you do have any kidney problem's as they would show if you have any blood or protein in your urine,

Hopefully thing's settle down for you or maybe mention it to your dr again,

All the best,
Marie

Welcome to the forum enrico

If you are still urinating frequently you need to get it investigated, by a urologist I should think. It's not a usual symptom of lupus.

Hi All,

Hmn - I've had this problem since I've had Lupus and despite going to the toilet before bed (10pm) I can get up approx 3-5 times a night and still have to get up at 6am to go again!!!

I thought I just had a weak bladder......

Come to think of it, there is a condition called neurogenic bladder.
I have met several people with lupus who suffer from this, associated with some sort of nerve or brain damage or malfunction.

Here's a very detailed rather technical account

I'll add some more links as I find them

Hi Enrico,

My husband had a similar problem for a short time. His doctor referred him to a Urologist. After extensive testing it turned out to be an intolerance for caffeine. Once he cut out all caffeine he was fine. Alcohol is known to do the same thing. There may be other triggers too. You should ask your doctor for a referral to a Urologist so you can get to the bottom of this.

Hi Clare,

Thank you for the link. I helped me understand a little more of what my neuro was talking about.

Take care,
Lazylegs

Hi,

Are you taking Prednisone and have they checked you for diabetes? Thats one avenue to explore and there are many other things that could cause this. Good idea to discuss it with your GP so he can run some basic tests, if he draws a blank then a gynaecologist (if you are female :wink2: ) and also a urologist would be a good place to start.

Good luck,

love

have you tried retraining your bladder? Time the interval between the urge to pee, and add 5 minutes on the next time, and the next etc until you get up to a reasonable interval.

Works a treat to me. I think i sometimes just get an irritable bladder that needs to be stretched a bit so it can hold for a normal length of time.

The other thing that can help is vaginal estrogen if you are approaching or past your middle years (anything from mid 30s onwards). Vaginal estrogen tones up the whole uro-genital track and is great at working out these sort of problems. Vaginal estrogen is not absorbed systemically so it is very safe even with clotting conditions (if you have APS)

Hi there

I have noticed a ridiculous need to pee but usually as soon as I need to get to bed. It really is odd in as much as I can quite literally pee,get back into bed and pee again (not in the bed!)

After a while I decided that either its psycological or any inflammation my press on a trigger to pee and left it at that,

What I do notice is that when out in the day the need to pee is out of synch with what I have drunk, unpredictable and suddenly comes on with more urgency.
Im 44 so its easy to put those things down to ... well being 44.

I have posted something re brain probs in symptoms so will read the neruo postby clare and think on.

I meant to say the night time peeing is / can be say 8 times easily and then wake up early to pee .

Its interesting it could be tied in with neuro probs possibly
