Hi i was just wondering if anyone else had weird triggers for the face rash? I get the discoid rash in the summer time on my upper arms and chest when exposed. My face gets a rash in the summer too but I have taken to using sunscreen all year long and huge I mean gigantic hats in summer! Lately I am having my face rash appear after the shower or any activity that makes me too warm. I have not been diagnosed with lupus but I semm to have most every symptom listed on this and the mayo clinics site. I do have appointment monday. Oh yes and I have just stopped taking isoniazid and I can't be sure if the face rash got the strange triggers after I started the meds or not cause it was in the summer... I am almost sure it is because of the meds though, definitly noticing it by the autmn and winter time and still very cold. Any thoughts appreciated:)

Hi there Milkykitty!!
I have PLE (polymorphic light eruption) this means im allergic to uva/b rays from the sun, and some supermarkets!! (a woman allergic to shopping...unheard of!!!) and ive also found out that im hypocalcemic (calcium levels dangerously low) see if you can get a ref. to a dermatologist, who will be able to detect this condition by testing a patch of skin. and they have great lotions and potions to try out!!! The sun is actually worse for you in the winter, as it is lower in the sky, so it can affect you all year round.
I hope this helps...let me know how you get on!!

Hi Erin
Your rash sounds exactly like mine. I do seem to have the rash (redness) on my face most of the time tho, but at times like after showering or doing housework, like you say anything warm or physical, it gets much much worse.
I also get it on my chest neck and tops of arms and just recently have developed what they call "racoon" eyes, where I have a circle of redness around the eyes, including the lids. Another recent symptom is redness on the elbows! My rheumie is looking into this and has tested me for myositis. Am still awaiting the results of this.
I am not sure if any of this is due to sunlight. I have not reacted in the past to sun bathing. I have had several holidays and apart from the usual sunscreen have not taken any other precautions. I seem to be like it come winter or summer!
It could be your meds. Lets hope the Doc gets to the bottom of it for you.
Take Care
Jill
