Hello Everyone! I have been diagnosed as having either Lupus or UCTD - the doctor isn't sure yet.
I have red palms, red pinprick spots on my palms and purplish fingertips. The symptoms of Raynaud's doesn't really talk about red palms or purple fingers, but more about blue and white fingertips. Does this symptom sound like Raynauds Syndrome to you or another sign of Lupus, in addition to malar rash, etc?
I'd be interested to find out how many others have hands like mine. I used to think it was normal until I started seeing my rheumy.
Thanks!

yes the raynould thing suggests white and blue fingers when in cold. the thing is that raynould has to do with blood pressure: your prob could b blood related. Try to understand if there is a particular moment in which it shows up. in my exp. i have too moments in which especcially my finger nails get dark but also moments in which hands and feet are all red and i feel em like burning: it generally happens after moving a lot, or passing from hot to cold. We have to understand if it is blood or nerves related: so just talk about it with your doctor
I don't have a Lupus diagnosis but a UCTD diagnosis. I also have red spots on my palms and insides of my hands. The only way I can explain it is it looks like red, pink, and white marble. I don't have the purple though.
My hands and feet are always cold but I don't get the extreme white to my hands so my doc thinks maybe Raynauds or maybe my thyroid. I'm going to get my thyroid blood tests again in March (last April they were normal) to see if maybe things have changed since the coldness just started within the last year.

dbab,
Remember, I'm not a physician, but the purple fingers sure sound like Raynaud's to me -- or perhaps another circulation disorder.
Blue/purple? I have Raynaud's and I go through different "shades" of blue, all the way to deep purple. One just has to remember that it's a case of the blood vessels getting so constricted, that not very much blood is getting through to the extremities.
Best of luck with this. Keep following up with the doctors. And keep us posted of what turns up, ok? I'd sure like to know what the result is.
