View Full Version : intense nausea and shaking

Something weird happened to me this morning. I woke up and started the coffee pot and sat down to turn on the news. All of a sudden I got this dry dry feeling in my mouth. I was so desperate for water, I RAN to the kitchen and poured water and got a little sip down real fast (didn't feel fast enough). I took my water and started to get my clothes out of the laundry room and started to my bedroom and felt really weird.

I suddenly got this intense wave of nausea and ended up just sitting right on the middle stairs. I got really sweaty and shaky and felt like my heart was beating so fast. I got up after about a few minutes and got ready for work. I have been really weak and still kind of uneasy and shaky since then although no nausea since then.

It really scared me (still does!!) I get nausea every day but nothing like this and I don't think I've experienced this at all before. It may not sound too bad when you read but believe me it was.

I'm on my third day of my menses, you think a connection? Never had this though before.

dbab,
I saw your post and have experienced something similar to what you described. The only difference was that I was very cold and hot at the same time. I broke out in a cold sweat and felt very weak. I actually vomited (sorry) once and was unable to eat very much all weekend. I've had a hard time regulating my temperature lately as well.

My thoughts are with you,

Its the same. I should have mentioned cold sweat, not just sweating. I was very close to vomiting but I didn't.

LupusCat50, Did this happen recently? I am almost wondering if its my thyroid. The last time I had my thyroid checked with last April and my levels were all within normal limits besides my TSH which was a little on the low side (1.33). I don't understand the dry mouth and extreme thirst with it though.

Its very strange.

I have had a similar feeling when I've taken meds on an empty stomach. But to me it sounds like it could be something hormonal. I have noticed that I break out in sweats during my cycle.

You should probably have the thyroid checked as well. Be careful.

I have experienced the same exact thing-mine went on everytime when I was on my feet too long. I am talking minutes walking from my bedroom up to the kitchen-no we still do not have an answer. I am sorry that you are expierencing this too.

I know nothing really, but from what you describe, the thirst, sweats, shakes.. sounds more like a diabetic problem, low sugar perhaps?

Worth a thought

D,
Hi , actually I have been going through the nauseau issue the past week and have had a loss of appetite. Whenever I eat or drink water I feel sick. I am not on any new meds. I am actually going to my gp tommorrow, he'll probably run more tests. :) Sorry I have no idea what it could be from. For myself i have just been feeling fatigue not sure if associated.

Hopefully it doesn't happen for you again.
Melissa

I just want to throw in the possibility that you might have a touch of that horrible stomach virus going around. What you describe fits the symptoms some people have had. I work in a school and we've been overwhelmed by it since Dec.

Sometimes it's hard to tell what's lupus and what's a virus, so I just wanted to mention it. I know that I can forget sometimes that there are "normal" reasons for getting sick.

FYI - Just an update. My gp was not too concerned. He reccommended prosilec for upset stomach.

dbab,

Mine happened last weekend, all weekend. I was better on Monday, went to work on Tuesday and felt OK, still no appetite. On Wednesday, I became very ill again after noon, lots of pain, sweating, chills the whole thing again. I've had no energy since and lots of joint pain.

I'm beginning to think it's a new kind of flare. The weather must have something to do with or maybe it's the full moon, who knows???? Living with lupus and fibro is always an adventure.

Hope you're feeling better. Stay warm and pain free.

Yeah I haven't had it since that day *touch wood. I really hope it wasn't something serious like a heart attack cause you know thats what came up everytime I punched in my symptoms (bad habit of mine). My CRP was very elevated last month when I got it tested which really freaks me out, it was at 20. :worried:

I'm only 31 but hey, I guess anything is possible with this DD. :sigh:

Thanks for your replies and letting me know that I'm not the only one to go through this.

There is definitely some nausea and diarrea going around. I include the diarrhea because I had the sound effects in the abdoman, which isn't normal (I tend to get some diarrhea from the meds.) I had it Thursday and Friday - but mildly. A friend of mine said she had the same thing happen about 1 week before she got the flu, I have my fingers crossed this wasn't a prelude to that. Her flu was very bad, she got very sick and dehydrated and was in bed for 3 - 4 days and SHE is healthy. This particular flu seems to be mostly vomiting and diarrhea and strikes with virtually no warning. And I means no warning. She had to clean up after herself and then later in the week clean up after her adult daughter who has a damaged back and can't bend over. THAT'S how fast it hit. So watch for it and I would suggest getting someone to check in on you if you live alone. I think this flu might be very dangerous for most of us.
